Job Duties
• Leadership, Management and Accountability for the operations of the Personal Lines Department including staff, customer retention and carrier relations.
• Sales Leader with Team and Individual Sales Goals for Personal Insurance Products to prospective and existing clients.
• Leads sales and advertising strategy for Personal Lines Channel
• Train new and current employees - identify individual needs for education, training and development.
• Lead PL ongoing Level 10 Meetings
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times to deliver best customer experiences
• Monitor the downloading process following agency standards; verifying each renewals' accuracy; ensuring that all renewals and necessary documents are produced.
• Responsible for providing and monitoring weekly and monthly required reports, monitor effectiveness and pinpoint backlogs.
• Schedule department vacations, personal time, meetings. Be responsible for changing current schedules as need arises.
• Monitor underwriting guides for companies and supervise agency conformance with those standards
• Be responsible for approving exceptions for Account Managers and Team Assistants. Keep accurate records of exceptions approved. Work with company underwriters in having exceptions approved.
• Meet with company personnel as necessary.
• Assist Account Managers with questions regarding placement of business and coverage concerns.
• Performs quarterly performance reviews and submit to Leadership. Implement training and changes as needed.
• Assist PL in developing department and individual goals.
• Submit written goals and objectives by December 31 each year.
• Assist in the process of interviewing prospective employees.
• Promote positive staff and company underwriter relations.
• Monitor various quoting programs to clean out and/or update as needed.
• Meet annual new sales production goals as defined locally.
Qualifications
• Minimum of five years experience in company or agency underwriting.
• Pursue professional studies and familiarity with trends in the industry and new products.
• Must have state Property & Casualty license
• Supervisory skills and ability to train and coach employees.
• Ability to understand, analyze and train others regarding Personal Lines coverages, forms and policies.
• Extreme attention-to-detail is a MUST
• College education or equivalent insurance experience.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately.
• Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
• Full knowledge of insurance products and usages.
• Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and underwrite assigned client and prospect lists.
