Job Title: Vice President
Job Description: The Vendor Risk Manager will be responsible for building out and leading the newly formed Vendor Risk Management (VRM) organization for Blackstone, reporting directly to Blackstone’s Treasurer. The VRM organization will be responsible for coordinating and leveraging existing vendor risk management expertise within the firm to form a holistic and fully comprehensive approach to managing the risks associated with Blackstone’s vendors. This will include the development and deployment of a vendor risk management framework/model, procedures, and supporting technologies. This individual will interact extensively with Finance/Procurement, Legal & Compliance, Information Security, Physical Security, as well as Blackstone business unit leads, to ensure all applicable risks are properly managed.
Responsibilities:
• Leading the Vendor Risk Management organization for Blackstone
• Leading the initial risk assessment process for new vendors and coordinating ongoing Vendor Risk Assessments
• Managing and resolving exceptions and escalations
• Coordinating ongoing reviews and open issues with Specialist Risk Groups (e.g. Information Security, Compliance, HR, etc.)
• Developing and presenting updates to senior leadership as needed
• Tracking key mitigating actions and forming / leading required forums to address issues
• Maintaining VRM policy and procedure manual
• Supporting business units through VRM processes
• Maintaining vendor risk database and sending reminders to specialist risk groups for periodic reviews
• Ensuring issues are well documented, accepted, and signed off, for accepted risks
• Training, managing and mentoring junior team members
Qualifications: Candidates should exhibit strong technical, analytical and leadership skills as well as exceptional communication skills. Candidates should be energetic, self-motivated, team-oriented individuals who are ready to build the group from the ground up.
• 10+ years of vendor or other third party-related risk management experience, having addressed various risk types, preferably within the financial services industry
• Strong leader with solid business judgment
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with business partners and senior business leadership
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels throughout the firm
• Ability to multitask and complete difficult assignments with tight deadlines
• BS/BA required, preferably Business, Finance, Risk Management, or Technology
