Description
We are currently seeking a State and Local Tax (SALT) Senior to join our income/franchise tax and controversies practice. This SALT Senior will assist clients by performing state and local tax compliance reviews, including reviewing whether a client took advantage of available tax attributes of their business, assist clients with state and local income tax controversies including potential appearances before the Office of Tax Appeals or similar state administrative review proceedings, and research and draft technical memoranda regarding state income tax issues.
Significant technical skills are necessary to assist in all tasks associated with tax engagements, including the mentorship and training of SALT Staff.
Moss Adams is committed to providing a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education per year. This is delivered through a variety of mediums including the classroom, computer-based courses, and web-based sessions. We also provide local office training on technical topics to keep you current and informed on important Firm issues and industry standards. In addition, we provide soft skills training on marketing, sales, and time management giving you the skills you need to be successful in public accounting.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Taxation or a JD with LLM in Tax preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of related tax experience
• Previous experience in state and local tax preferred
• Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues preferred
• Previous experience working with state or local tax authorities is preferred
• Experience in state and local government revenue department preferred
• Public accounting experience preferred
• CPA and/or licensed attorney preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter and have experience in managing multiple client engagements
• Creative problem solving and research skills
• Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
• Able to handle multiple priorities, tasks and simultaneous projects
• Ability to travel to client locations which may include overnight stays
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
