Summary of Role
Provide effective management, leadership, and vision to teams within a fast-paced strategic development environment. Act as part of a cross-functional portfolio team focused on the successful delivery of projects/program combining business strategy and technological solutions. Work closely with the Senior Leadership team and program sponsor, to align the direction of the programme or project with the strategic direction of the organization and translate it into tangible deliverables and project plans for the SME teams.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Assist with business case development, project initiation document, creation of the project charter, preliminary scope statement, and support the project sponsor in seeking project approval.
• Ensure healthy program and/or project financials by forecasting requirements; preparing a project budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, including and not limited to leading, mentoring and coaching other project team members to deliver complex programs.
• Articulate compelling visions to staff and external parties to ensure buy in, support and commitment to the project.
• Plans, executes, and ensures projects are on time.
• Manages programme activity effectively within budget and scope and in accordance with business priorities.
• Guides the supporting processes of the program, collaborating effectively across multiple cross-functional teams.
• Work with functional teams to perform detailed work planning, ensuring dependencies are understood.
• Manage project governance process, including the project board.
• Manage delivery of project products, taking overall responsibility for the progress, resourcing, and initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Utilize professional expertise to understand important aspects of the project and communicate in the language of the team members.
• When applicable, facilitate workshops, planning sessions and meetings for the development of technical specifications in conjunction with technical staff including inputs, outputs, logic, and other details necessary to develop or select the appropriate technology solution.
• Identify and separate needs for revamped or new business processes separate from technology solutions, and work with internal customers to create business processes.
• Identify and secure people resources required for the project, initiating and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Solicit vendor bids, select vendors, negotiate vendor contract, and manage contracts (as needed).
• Vendor management to ensure on time delivery of program/project deliverables as agreed
• Review and oversee strategic delivery plans in terms of schedule, cost, scope, quality and benefits
• Lead and manage project or program activities under direction from senior leadership within the predetermined scope including, but not limited to, program management, structure, timing, powers/delegations, and financials.
• Throughout the lifecycle of each project, track project status and manage project teams to mitigate issues and risks.
• Anticipate any impediments that may arise during the delivery of the program and ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are undertaken.
• Provide leadership to cross-functional teams, including on-going refinement and alignment of best practices, compliance, and inflight program or project health checks
• Coordinate with and provide insights to multiple business owners (e.g., IT, HR, Finance, Communications) to execute project deliverables.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify both strategic and tactical initiatives and assist with prioritizing and grooming of both the portfolio and program backlogs.
• Conduct regular project/workstream review meetings.
• Establish and communicate to key stakeholders (including project board and program steering group) the program or project strategies and progress.
• Maintain knowledge of the business groups (e.g. IT, HR, finance, etc); analyze the abilities of tools and technologies, compare with the need of the business, then recommend potential solutions to managers within the business.
• Manage and coordinate the implementation of internal, external, and off-the-shelf business applications with all IT, finance, HR and other related business groups.
• Act as an agent of change for the programme, encouraging the adoption of best practice change management techniques by the project teams:
◦ Identify scope change(s)
◦ Contribute to development of options and assess impact of proposed change(s) in terms of time, cost, quality, benefits realization
◦ Escalate and initiate corrective actions when required.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
• Strong knowledge and capabilities in project and/or program management and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of formal large project/program management
• Group motivation and discipline
• Coordinating and fostering teamwork
• Leading and managing others and able to interact with all levels of the organization Innovation and change management
• Superior proficiency in Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and facilitate large group planning sessions toward a common vision.
• Master’s degree/MBA
• Project management certification - PRINCE 2 practitioners, and/or PMP
• Undergraduate and/or graduate education in accounting, finance, operations management, strategy planning
• Demonstrated skills in complex decision-making, problem–solving and planning
• Ability to interact with both the business and technology
• Some travel required: 25%

• Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ progressively responsible experience, including
• Several years managing projects with progressively larger scopes
