Job Description
This position provides a high level of analytical support to departments within Commercial Lending by preparing objective and comprehensive written financial analyses on complex commercial lending requests within specified timeframes. This position assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the credit relationship, makes risk rating recommendations and requires an understanding of credit policies and procedures.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Prepares objective written credit analyses including assigning accurate risk ratings for complex new loans or for the renewal of existing facilities as requested by account officers or required by policy. Analyzes financial statements, collateral, debt service, personal financial statements and personal cash flow, prepares lease synopsis, incorporates pertinent appraisal information and summarizes risks and mitigants, as applicable and germane to the size and complexity of the transaction.
• Demonstrates expertise in: proper loan structuring; legal and documentation issues; industry considerations that affect specific borrower types; credit policy and procedures and their impact on the transaction; and underwriting requirements specific to both CREF and C&I loan requests.
• Gathers information from Dun & Bradstreet and credit bureau reports to assess the borrower’s credit standing, and independently researches and gathers industry data from multiple sources as applicable.
• Tests financial covenants and prepare relationship sheets.
• Accompanies account officers on customer calls, particularly on larger or more complex credit requests to offer analytical support.
• Provides advice and guidance to Commercial Credit Analysts.
Job Requirements:
• College degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 3-5 years relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in Commercial Lending or Commercial Real Estate financial analysis.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex financial information accurately.
• Excellent PC skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, internet and industry specific applications.
• Excellent ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Strong understanding of all financial analyses aspect of the commercial lending industry with expertise in commercial credit.
