Job Description
Execute procurement processes of defined categories of third-party spend. Support the Business Unit Category Manager or higher in providing a central interface to the users and suppliers for on-going Information Data & Online Services and Vendor Management procurement activities. Conduct tenders, participate in contract negotiations, follow through on contract implementation and conduct operative buying in compliance with contract terms and procurement guidelines.
Major Accountabilities:
1. Under the guidance of the Business Unit Category Manager or higher develop procurement and supplier strategies for each material group within the relevant areas of responsibility.
2. Execute strategic procurement processes, including needs planning, market analyses, demand management, formal tenders, evaluation of offers, proposal of contract award and implementation of contracts for regional North American business units.
3. Work with all existing Information Service providers who provide subscription based information intelligence and data via various products, subscriptions and services across Munich Re’s - GC/NA3 (AMOD, HSB and MRAm) for both personal and commercial lines of businesses.
4. Support the Business Unit Category Manager or higher in managing the respective cost centers associated to the Information Services rendered across Munich Re’s North America operations,
5. Interface with regional IT teams for product licensing and deployment of such products across our affiliates.
6. Contributes to the development of the IT procurement strategy, processes, and procedures that are consistent with corporate policy and IT project requirements.
7. Implements the IT Vendor Management strategy; ensures that IT vendors are delivering maximum value for goods and services
8. Work with internal underwriting clients to create regional cross synergies within Information Services, and work with the CPNA Operations and Communications to streamline the request process.
9. Consolidate suppliers where necessary to eliminate duplication of products, negotiate renewals, establish business terms, enforce service level agreements, and reduce fees where applicable.
10. Develop and implement a strategic plan on how to establish a CPNA Information Service Competence Center for servicing the entire Munich Re Group.
11. Work with CPNA Vendor Management to maintain Information Services master data file, and establish and monitor overall vendor tiering structure and classification.
12. Facilitate vendor management awareness and training for responsible lines of business.
13. Deliver local and regional savings for assigned projects and areas of responsibility.
14. Participate in the exchange of information across North American business units via Category Councils, both formal and informal. Proactively inform business unit procurement leaders and business unit category manager regarding opportunities, issues and status for assigned areas of responsibility.
15. Ensure efficiency as well as compliance with applicable policies. Adhere to the Code of Conduct, and maintain processes to prevent fraud and conflicts of interest. Maintain centralized contract repository.
Qualifications
• Five years of procurement experience in both IT and Professional Services
• Demonstrated understanding of technology procurement required
• Proficient in the measurement of procurement success and the use of various systems/tools.
• Intermediate knowledge of applicable spend categories (supplier markets, sourcing strategies)
• Proficient in contract terminology and ability to assess invoices for adherence to pricing terms
• Develops and monitors performance targets and KPIs
• Demonstrated competence in developing specific scopes of work, either independently or with internal Stakeholders input
• Demonstrated competency using procurement tools: i.e. Ariba and other various systems/tools.
• Strong knowledge of Information Data and On-line Services, i.e. AMBest, Insurance Serivices Office (ISO), NCCI, Bloomberg/ODEN, NCCI etc.
• Understanding of accounting and budgetary concepts
• Experience in Software licensing
• Experience in collaborating on cross-functional projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and social skills
• Strong in data analytics and strategic thinking
• Reinsurance and/or primary insurance experience a plus
• Willingness to travel (infrequent – less than 10 % of time)
BS/BA required
Professional certification (CPSM, CSM) a plus
