Description
The Credit Solutions group manages lending/credit for a wide range of credit relationships. Leads the due diligence process and deal structuring process. Partners with the Relationship Management Team for the delivery and negotiation of credit solutions. Owns the underwriting, approval and closing process. Responsible for proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality and profitability targets. Remains abreast of market, sector and competitive trends. Engages and builds relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed, and able to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client and SVB needs. Develops and delivers insights and points of view on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors.
The Credit Solutions MD is accountable for all structuring, underwriting, closing and portfolio management for their team’s assigned portfolio / market / sector. Manages (or indirectly coaches) a team of Directors, Vice Presidents and Associates responsible for managing all aspects of lending/credit for a wide range of client relationships. Responsible for allocating the right resources to each borrower within the portfolio as well as to each opportunity in the pipeline. Serves as an ambassador of SVB Tech Banking as appropriate. Provides guidance and oversight for the portfolio and pipeline. Actively leads the team’s efforts in structuring, underwriting and closing of new business or in addressing borrowers within the portfolio for the right opportunities / situations. Recruits and interviews staff. Makes hiring recommendations. Sets goals and manages workload of the team. Responsible for developing skills and expertise of team, including the development and retention of top talent for SVB. Leads development and delivery of insights on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors. Engages actively with partners in Relationship Banking, Credit Administration and others to ensure alignment of approach, alignment on credit appetite, and innovation of solutions Fosters seamless working relationships across vertical and horizontal teams.
Highly skilled at structuring, negotiating, closing and managing the most complex financing solutions to meet client needs. Exercises judgment and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interests of the clients and SVB. Ensures that resources are properly deployed for optimal outcomes in both pipeline and portfolio. Engages as SME and trusted partner / expert with key stakeholders (internally and externally). Ensures alignment of cross-functional teams to deliver for the client while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with one another. Manages a team of Directors, VP’s and Associates. Provides leadership for vertical and horizontal teams.
• Oversees the structuring, underwriting closing of credit solutions for team's assigned sector / market / portfolio. This includes allocation of the right resources and providing expert guidance across the business as well as direct engagement as appropriate in opportunities.
• Oversees portfolio management for team's assigned portfolio / market / sector. This includes allocation of resources, maintaining credit quality and profitability targets, direct engagement in situations including serving as an ambassador of SVB Tech Banking as appropriate.
• Manages a team of VP's and Associates, providing oversight and guidance, managing workload for the team, driving skills and career development for individuals, ensuring the development and retention of top talent, and delivering on scalability initiatives.
• Leadership and expertise. Remains abreast of market, sector and competitive trends, developing and delivering insights and points of view on loan types and credit / performance trends as well as opportunities to innovate on our solutions. Builds and maintains strong alignment amongst Relationship Management, Credit Administration, Credit Solutions for approaches to credit within stages and sectors. Fosters strong relationships across entire horizontal team to optimize outcomes and scalability.
Qualifications
10 or more years of related experience. Skilled leader, communicator, expert at credit and ability to negotiate and close business. Skilled at proactively managing large and complex portfolio of borrowing relationships. Ability to manage, develop and retain talent.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
