Position Overview

Provide structuring support and specialized expertise to develop new transactions for the North American region of Global Financial Solutions. The incumbent will support the North American GFS structuring function working with RGA’s clients and existing GFS business development team to structure customized solutions to support the client’s capital needs.
Responsibilities
• Develop detailed technical subject matter expertise in support of GFS’s structuring efforts in North America as assigned:
a. Support sales process through contribution of detailed expertise in assigned area of focus.
b. Support the VP - Structuring with the process of qualifying and developing opportunities into executable transactions.
c. Through hands on research, analysis and construction of spreadsheet illustrations, support the design of customized reinsurance structures to meet the needs of RGA and our clients.
d. Develop subject matter expertise in assigned fields in order to consult with clients to understand and address their capital motivated needs as well as internally to inform and educate the GFS business development team and other interested parties.
• Provide structuring, technical support and complex problem solving to GFS deal teams throughout the deal process within area of specialty.
• Independently research and stay current on all matters directly impacting assigned area of specialization including regulations, tax, accounting issues, economic factors, RGA’s competitive strengths/limitations, competitive forces.
• Develop subject matter expertise and provide clear and concise communication to both the GFS global team and external clients on matters of importance in assigned areas of specialty.
• Build and maintain a strong network of relationships with key experts within GFS and RGA’s Corporate function to leverage organizational knowledge.
• In coordination with current business development staff, contribute to the development of sales proposals, presentations, white papers and other technical sales materials.
• Engage in moderate level of travel to RGA clients and industry meetings.
• Enhance the RGA GFS Brand externally and represent RGA a professional manner at all times.
Requirements
Education
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Econometrics or related field
• FSA, ASA, CPA, CFA or other applicable professional designation or advanced graduate degree in relative field
• Expert knowledge of the US life insurance and reinsurance market or corporate finance
• 7+ years of relevant industry experience in structured reinsurance or finance
Preferred:
• Experience in structured reinsurance and/or life insurance financing
• Experience in investment banking, ALM or relevant consulting roles
• Experience in professional client-facing roles
• Demonstrated drive and ability to further advance in a financial structuring or business development role
Experience and Skills
Required:
• Expert level of listening, investigative, analytical, innovation and problem solving skills
• Ability to apply expert knowledge to transaction needs and develop novel, efficient, executable solutions
• Advanced to expert skills in building financial models and graphs in Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and “outside the box” in order to spur innovation and to remain intellectually curious to learn technical nuances related to areas of importance
• Expert ability to understand multi-dimensional business needs and issues such as GAAP accounting, US Statutory accounting, pricing, customer perception, rating or tax and can translate them into novel, viable and accepted solutions
• Expert ability to work well in an environment with multiple, concurrent projects, cyclical work flow and demanding time frames
• Highly advanced ability to adapt new methods; work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
• Expert ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
• Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received at various level of detail
• Advanced ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results
• Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment
• Ability to work well within and manage diverse and sometimes virtual project teams
• Ability to travel domestically
