The Category Manager position is an individual contributor role responsible for the sourcing of indirect goods and services related specifically to First American’s Title and Settlement Services business. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams in qualifying vendors, selecting vendors offering the best overall value, negotiating contract terms and conditions, working with the Legal Department to mitigate legal and regulatory risks, implementing contracts, and monitoring and managing vendor performance on an on-going basis.
Responsibilities:
•Manage the contract life cycle of one or more spend categories.
•Develop and maintain expertise in the category being managed by analyzing trends and dynamics of the current market.
•Work with key stakeholders to determine specific needs of the business.
•Identify vendors with the capability to meet business requirements.
•Facilitate cross-functional teams in developing sourcing strategy.
•Prepare RF(x) and lead teams in the source selection process.
•Negotiate pricing and contract terms and conditions.
•Manage contract implementation.
•Manage and monitor vendor performance on an on-going basis.
Job Qualifications:
•Experience with the sourcing of indirect goods and services.
•Minimum three years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing or procurement.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred, or combination education/experience equivalent.
•MBA, C.P.M. or CPSM Certification highly desirable.
•In depth knowledge and experience in managing the procurement of indirect spend categories.
•Knowledge of contracting trends and expert negotiation tactics and strategies; proven track record of negotiations that result in cost savings and risk avoidance.
•Strong ability to communicate with business owners, legal, and procurement staff to craft contracts that align needs with contractual requirements to achieve desired business outcomes.
•Ability to read, comprehend and redline contract terms and conditions.
•Strong MS Office Skills or equivalent software.
