Responsibilities:
Securities Operations handles asset set-up and trade data entry in the accounting system, corporate actions sourcing, instruction and processing, proxy voting and reconciliation, equity and fixed income pricing, and facilitating the fair valuation process.
A Securities Operations Analyst – Corporate Action Specialist is responsible for:
• Monitoring corporate action events, reviewing the terms of the event and ensuring elections are correctly made prior to the deadline.
• Processing all corporate action events in the internal accounting system.
Essential Functions:
• Performs detailed review of events from multiple sources to interpret and confirm terms of complex corporate action details. Sources may include custodians, vendors, agents and news sources. Reconciles positions and trade activity with the custodians and Portfolio Managers/Analysts to ensure proper positions are elected upon.
• Communicates the terms of the corporate action and all options to Portfolio Manager/Analysts and ensures an election is received prior to deadline.
• Coordinates corporate action elections and payments with as many as 40 custodians through internal systems, fax, and email and custodian websites.
• Ensure corporate actions are accurately processed, including consulting with legal/compliance for taxability and review of market value impact to ensure proper accounting for end of day NAV
• Troubleshoots a variety of issues that may be complex in nature.
• Recognizes and implements potential risk controls and automation opportunities associated with corporate action elections and processing.
• Partner with colleagues overseas to ensure cohesive global operating model
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• 3 - 4 years’ experience related to accounting support including understanding of Corporate Actions.
• 1 - 2 years’ experience related to good understanding of Corporate Actions and familiarity with legal documents and corporate reorganization preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent preferred
• Strong:
◦ Interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication skills
◦ Attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic to intermediate computer skills including MS Word and Excel; 10-key by touch
• Ability to:
◦ Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
◦ Interpret complex event terms and a strong understanding of market regulations and practices.
• Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
• Comfortable working in a high impact, high-risk role
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with corporate action platforms (e.g.: XSP) and SWIFT
