Description
Project Manager reports to the Managing Director for Assurant Field Services. As a member of the AFS Leadership Team, this
position operates with a moderate degree of independence overall to help drive
structure and discipline when conceptualizing, framing, launching, managing,
and executing continuous improvement opportunities in support of overall Quality. The incumbent will use Six Sigma tools and
techniques, project management and DMAIC to complete these projects. In
addition, the position will apply Lean principles to remove process steps that
provide no value to the customer and reduce waste.
Support departmental or
cross-functional process improvement projects utilizing the Six Sigma DMAIC
methodology in order to deliver sustained improvement in the business process’
performance. Focus on business
performance that constantly strives to eliminate waste and improve o customer satisfaction via the use of Lean Six Sigma and other Quality tools.

Other duties may be
assigned as deemed necessary by the Managing Director for the LOB.
Creation and Support for a Operations PMO
(Program Management Office) – 40%
◦ Take responsibility for inventorying and
assessing all “in flight” process improvement initiatives currently underway
that are not ASCEND related. Capture the
initiative, its status, whether it has the proper foundational documents
(project charter, work plan, leadership/exec sponsorship, issues log, estimated
business value, etc..)
◦ Create a simple set of templates, training
materials, and core methodologies that can be deployed throughout the line of business
to educate staff both at the supervisor level through Senior Executive as to
how to successfully capture, launch, manage and execute a project. This might include definitions on project
status, what constitutes and escalated issue for executive management to
resolve vs. staying with the project team, etc. Support the rollout and on-going
propagation of the templates, tools, and methodologies.
◦ Create structure and control around all the
concurrent initiatives underway for the AFS Senior Executive team to formally
review all “in-process” initiatives on a reoccurring basis, with formal status
report outs, issue logging and resolution, prioritization, and other impediment
abatement. As part of this review, queued
up initiatives for discussion, prioritization, and resource commitment.
• Process Improvement – 30%
◦ Facilitate cross-functional meetings or Lean
Six Sigma events throughout project as necessary. Utilize understanding of Quality tools, data,
and processes to facilitate/influence design decisions and improvements. Define business process improvements, needs,
and improvement value drivers through workshop facilitation, interviews,
observation work and business modeling techniques.
◦ Utilize change management techniques to
support implementation of project results.
• Quality Management System Support – 10%
◦ Facilitate process mapping sessions to
document processes for the QMS.
◦ Serve as SME on improvement projects and/or
when required on how to create/revise controlled documentation.
◦ Provide guidance to employees on the QMS.
• Other Duties as Assigned – 20%
Qualifications
Education:Bachelor’s degree
Previous Experience:
Three (3) plus years of experience as a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
Three (3) to five (5) years working in a structured Project Management Office.
Three (3) plus years of experience as a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt. Three (3) to five (5) years working in a structured Project Management Office.
Prior experience in setting up a Project Management Office (PMO) in a service-based business where the candidate played a strong role in setting up the methodology, structure, education, and implementation of this capability.
0-20% Travel
Environment/Physical Demands: This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone.
