Ameritas Life Insurance Corp is seeking a Claim Approver to drive the business by analyzing and adjudicating Individual Life claims, Repetitive Payments and Supplemental Contract claims in accordance with the Fair Claims Practice Act and compliant with State and Federal Laws and Regulations, while providing timely and accurate service to our clients, agents and brokers.
Essential Job Functions
• Provide courteous, prompt and accurate responses to inquiries from claimants, agents, brokers, third party administrators and employees from various departments within the company.
• Responsible for answering ACD calls.
• Participate in rotating schedule to provide 5:00 PM telephone coverage.
• Review, approve and authorize disposition of non-contestable Individual Life claims up to $50,000.00.
• Review, approve and authorize disposition of death claims maintained within Repetitive Payment system without limitation as to type of account or amount of payment.
• Collect on overpayments made on Repetitive Payment and Supplemental claims resulting from late notifications of death.
• Required to follow-up, either in writing or verbally, with clients, agents and brokers to obtain claim requirements until claims are finalized.
• Verify coverage, incur claims, coordinate claims with other claim divisions, prepare correspondence and order settlement checks or establish Direct Access Accounts.
• Provide timely and accurate data input in Life, and Repetitive Payment FoxPro database.
• Required to process claims based on appropriate guidelines on Fair Claim Practices, Interest on Claims and Fraud Reporting; Compliant with IRS and SEC regulations. Also prepares IRS Form 712 when requested.
• Required to attend annual anti-fraud training and Fair Claim Practices training.
• Required to conform to corporate and department confidentially guidelines
• Required to work within Buddy System in unit. Involves communication and cooperation between co-workers to assure effective workflow.
• Distribute status and provide backup for mail distribution within the department.
• All other projects and duties as requested.
• May be asked to participate in training of new employees.
Requirements
• Associate degree in business preferred. High School graduate required plus 3-5 years experience in an office environment
• One to two years in Individual insurance claims preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet, Fox Pro, Lotus Notes helpful
• LOMA Parts 1 & 2 is a plus
