Job Description
Everest Reinsurance, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd., is seeking a Director of Business Systems Analysis for their headquarters in Liberty Corner, New Jersey.
The Director for the Everest Business Systems Analysts practice at Everest Technology Services is responsible for the overall performance of our team of BSA technology professionals who are the primary liaisons between business stakeholders and technology teams. In this role, the Practice Lead ensures the team is effective in understanding business needs, identifying and analyzing the source of business/system problems, and implementing world class solutions in partnership with our stakeholders.
The Director will contribute to thought leadership in the ETS organization, measurably improving outcomes, driving an increase in the team’s maturity model and managing their team’s growth in capability over time.
The Practice Lead works both with other senior management peers and their direct reports to continuously improve the outcomes of the BSA practice via refinement of the documentation artifacts and business engagement practices of the team. The lead is the advocate for the business departments, and may function as the Product Owner within the context of Agile Methodology.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Act as a liaison between the client area, technical organization, and other affected areas in planning, directing and conducting the analysis of complex business problems.
• Act in the role of Product Owner as needed to ensure that the right product features are defined, prioritized and built.
• Supports effective resource and capacity management for the Practice. Match specific resource demands with individual practice members taking into account required skills / knowledge / experience and individuals' professional development.
• Effective people management of allocated resources and all entry level practice members; ensuring effective coaching, professional development, communications and talent management. Ensures consistent approach to performance management.
• Build and maintain a community of practice; encouraging informal learning and knowledge sharing with an appropriate balance between delivery and professional development.
• Develop project proposals and estimates that reflect understanding of business needs and relevant technology solutions Employ the proper elicitation technique to ensure requirements are appropriately and efficiently identified, analyzed and documented using industry standard analysis techniques.
• Suggest creative technical and/or process solutions to identified business needs
• Collaborate with project team to ensure cohesive delivery and traceability of documentation. Provide input into project plans, cost and/or resource estimating activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned business domains and systems. Manage process to evaluate and select new vendor products and manage vendor relationships
• Supports ETS department with necessary product knowledge, presentations and technical expertise.
• Conforms to Company standards and practices to comply with Internal Audit and SOX controls.
Work Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years of experience as a business analyst and/or Product Owner, of which at least 3+ years are as a Product Owner
• 5+ Reinsurance/insurance experience required, with industry specific qualification highly preferred, e.g. CPCU, CBAP or ARe
• Certified Scrum Product Owner preferred
• Experience working with offshore development and quality assurance teams a plus
• Experience with multi-vendor technical integration projects a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong experience with Jira and/or Rally delivery tools
• Strong familiarity with MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
