Director, Brokerage Trading Operations
Series 7, 63 required at the time of application, Series 24 required or obtained within 4 months of hire. Will be registered in all 50 states.

Job Summary:
The Director will lead a team of individuals who provide trading support and oversight to TIAA Brokerage clients in a high-paced environment. The group also supports a wide network of advisors and support staff. The right candidate will possess strong organizational knowledge of a trading environment and how to lead a team to obtain timely, accurate and efficient results that are within established firm and regulatory standards.
Scope of Responsibilities and Knowledge Requirements:
• Awareness of regulatory and environmental considerations and issues that could affect the trading operations.
• Knowledge and experience in both self-directed and managed products and how a trade team supports each product.
• Maintain an understanding of TIAA Brokerage Services trading and operations policies and procedures.
• FINRA, MSRB, SEC, OCC regulatory knowledge and ability to interpret regulation and assess impact to operations.
• Design, implement and periodically review effective policies, procedures and quality assessments.
• Ability to apply industry knowledge and a systematic methodology to determine risk levels and make recommendations to manage acceptable risk.
• Ability to assess market and regulatory conditions that may affect clients, both broadly and by product/investment and make risk-based recommendations to mitigate impact.
• Design and implement effective oversight that will detect transactions that do not meet internal policy and/or regulatory guidelines. Oversight must also highlight trends that may cause financial, client and operational risk.
• Build and maintain a high quality, effective and professional relationship will all advisory professionals, clearing firm and internal business units.
• Understand and utilize performance process and trends to align processes, people and set goals to meet business unit and customer needs.
• Leverages performance management to identify and drive continuous learning and development
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ year’s financial services operations experience with a minimum 5 years in a brokerage trade operations environment supporting multiple product models.
• ¬¬Series 7, 63 required at the time of application
Preferred Qualifications:
• Must possess the experience and knowledge related to securities markets, trading, the role of an introducing broker-dealer and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with the role of a clearing firm and ability to delineate responsibilities and obligations of introducing broker/dealer versus a clearing firm.
• Knowledge of various investment products (equity, mutual fund and fixed income, options).
• Ability to evidence management oversight is effective and in compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Expertise in trade related regulatory requirements, such as Reg T, settlement, best execution, freeriding, fair pricing and commissions.
• Interacts with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Must be able to clearly communicate aspects of trading to business partners. Provide input and make recommendations on initiatives and projects that require trading expertise.
• Ability to build and lead effective and results oriented teams with clear direction and priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work with teams to create an engaged, collaborative team to meet and exceed performance targets while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, sense of urgency and customer centric focus.
• Communicate and align team’s roles and responsibilities to the organizational strategy
• Must possess the ability to engage and empower the team as a way to improve processes, increase operating results and meet business unit goals.
• Demonstrated ability to identify root cause, remove gaps, and work in a cost-effective, efficient operating environment that thrives upon continuously improving.
• Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change, while demonstrating confidence and flexibility.
