Develop and manage the strategic goals of digital innovation initiatives for MUFG, which include interactive support to and collaboration with the Digital Transformation Division of BTMU in the United States, to decrease time-to-market for technology-based banking products.
Major Responsibilities:
• Develop partnership with Fintech companies by executing a partnership agreement and, if necessary, encouraging them to utilize their technology and jointly run business with them primary in the Japanese market as well as markets where MUFG has a footprint.
• Coordinate and support negotiations between a Fintech company and BTMU.
• Lead proof of concept projects and development of new products with Fintech companies.
• Monitor areas of innovation in the banking industry, contacting people in an innovation organization at major banks in the U.S., and learn about innovation practices used by fast paced California companies, then share research outcomes with MUFG.
• Advise senior management of potential delivery capabilities through the preparation of strategy presentations.
• Maintain an awareness of major industry trends and evaluate enhancement opportunities by monitoring customer needs.
• Keep and expand pipeline of deals and information by making relationship with venture capitalists and accelerators and, if necessary, investing them with BTMU as a limited partner.
• Establish contact with U.S.-based research firms.
• Determine opportunities for BTMU, MUFG Union Bank, and MUFG affiliates to share technology partners.
• Ensure compliance with MUFG Union Bank's Business Standards of Conduct and all Patriot Act, CIP, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, and other regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in any required corporate and business line Compliance Training.
Qualifications
• Typically requires B.A. or B.S. or equivalent experience; MBA or a master degree related this position preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of Business Development, Product Management, or Product Development experience.
• Background in customer-facing, web-based and/or systems preferred, especially in the electronic payment, or online/mobile banking space.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English combined with matrix management skills.
• Strong strategic and project planning with an execution track record. Financial Services preferred
