Description
Fidelity Bank is seeking a Staff Accountant to be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties according to existing procedures, methods and systems. The ideal candidate will be able to manage competing priorities, be detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Banking or financial service experience is a must. Public company or regional accounting firm experience and advanced MS Excel skills including v-lookups, pivot tables, and formulas are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reconcile various accounts and ledgers on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as needed.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and complete documentation to support assigned account reconciliations in electronic format.
• Understand the flow of transactions in assigned reconciliations for process improvement and efficiency purposes
• Research reconciliation differences and proactively ensure complete and timely resolution. Provide monthly accounting support to explain fluctuations in assigned general ledger accounts.
• Calculate income and expense accruals and post required journal entries to the general ledger.
• Plays an active role in the month end general ledger closing duties and results and balance sheet reporting. Coordinates month end accounting activities with other departments.
• Cross train with other staff in the department as instructed.
• Follow established internal accounting controls.
• Complete assigned training opportunities and share knowledge with others in the department.
• Respond timely to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of resolving problems and/or providing information.
• Provide support as needed to internal and external auditors and examiners.
• Read and understand all department policies and procedures
