Job Summary
Director level, reporting to the VP Risk & Economic Capital, responsible for the delivery of the enterprise risk management framework, providing risk management expertise and consultancy to senior management, boards and committees to ensure risk owners manage and mitigate their risks effectively. Key responsibilities include risk reporting and supporting analytics, ensuring adherence to stated risk tolerances, coordinating stress & scenario testing analyses, driving adoption of other risk-related activities such as a Group Emerging Risk Framework and Model Risk Management, and other risk reporting work as needed for CNA’s quarterly Corporate Risk Committee meetings. This role is also responsible for coordination of ‘Own Risk & Solvency Assessment’ (ORSA) regulatory-related work such as the annual update of the
U.S. ORSA Report and rating agency presentations. Position works closely with Risk teams in the U.K. and Canada to ensure enterprise consistency and leads a team of 2-3 professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with divisional guidelines:
• Supports development of and implements strategic objectives with substantial impact on the Enterprise Risk function in alignment with the overall group business plan and strategy.
• Ensures Risk processes and procedures are aligned with group operating model, including the risk and governance framework.
• Optimizes business performance management by providing accurate and timely management information
• Partners with Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting and other internal departments to establish a cycle of feedback and collaboration.
• Develops presentations for senior management
• Fosters innovation and empowers others to take calculated risks and continuously improve skill, efficiency and quality of work
• Remains current on issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. May represent the company in industry trade groups.
• Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent development and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in accounting or finance or a related discipline, or equivalent.
• Typically a minimum of ten years of related insurance and/or risk experience, with three to five years of management experience.
• Experience with project management is required.
• Applicable certifications encouraged e.g. CPCU, CFA, PRM, FRM and/or MBA.
