Job Description:
Provide high level legal support and problem-solving to the Company’s managers and real estate professionals. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating transactional documents and providing legal counsel on various Company-related business issues.
Essential Job Duties:
• Draft and/or negotiate listing, confidentiality, commercial brokerage and consulting agreements as well as other legal instruments to support and protect the Company’s interests.
• Provide legal counsel and guidance to managers, and real estate professionals relating to the Company’s business activities.
• Identify and analyze legal issues with an understanding of how to appropriately balance risk with the Company’s ability to pursue its business interests.
• Respond promptly to the business with efficient and high-quality legal service.
Skills, Education and Experience:
EDUCATION, BAR ADMISSION and EXPERIENCE
• Juris Doctorate (JD), membership in good standing of the New York Bar and a minimum of seven years’ experience practicing law.
• Substantial experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Prior experience in areas relevant to the Company’s business, such as in brokerage law or other commercial real estate transactions, is required.
• The position requires excellent multi-tasking skills, good and practical decision-making ability, strong leadership skills, the ability to exercise sound judgment and the ability to interact effectively with the Company’s executives, professionals, staff and other employees, as well as with other legal colleagues, and outside counsel.
• It is also very important that the candidate works well within a team environment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex business documents.
• Excellent drafting skills are required.
REASONING ABILITY
• Strong ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.
• Ability to identify and respond effectively to sensitive business issues.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
