Basic Purpose:
The Associate Director, Institutional Business Development will work in conjunction with 2 Senior Business Development Directors in the East and South territories to maximize business development and territory activities and increase Eaton Vance’s institutional brand to enhance and drive sales within the territories.Working in an established team model framework, the Associate Director will identify and develop new relationships focusing on market segments and/or geographies as defined in collaboration with the Senior Business Development Director and Managing Director, Institutional.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work in conjunction with Institutional Business Directors to build new/strengthen existing relationships and drive sales with prospects within the defined territory assignments/focus areas.
• Execute on territory AUM and revenue growth goals with new and existing clients and consultant partners and achieve established activity metrics.
• Develop and augment relationships with plan sponsor professional staff, Investment Committee/Board of Trustee members, investment consultant staff and other influencers to effectively position Eaton Vance and our affiliate firm capabilities.
• Effectively manage the sales opportunity process from prospect identification and development through closing sales opportunities.
• Leverage dynamic territory team model to effectively work with Consultant Relations and Relationship Management teams in order to create a consistent market approach.
• Strengthen overall territory penetration by developing and executing proactive, creative and ongoing contact initiatives within territory team model including increasing cross-sell results and field consultant relationships.
• Build relationships with EV and affiliate firm investment teams to grow internal and external credibility and effectively leverage capabilities and resources to win new mandates while assisting in development and retention of existing relationships.
• Build territory market intelligence including segment and product trends internally to improve existing messaging while proactively acting as a catalyst to develop new solutions.
• Demonstrate the core values of the firm and champion established internal and industry best practices.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree. MBA and/or CFA (or progress towards) strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of investment industry experience with at least 2 years of related sales, consultant relations or relationship management experience.
• FINRA Series 7 and 63 preferred (must obtain if hired).
• Demonstrated ability to create sales/relationship opportunities with key decision makers and influencers at plan sponsor and consultant organizations.
• Passion for the investment management industry and desire to thrive in a dynamic territory team model.
• Excellent sales skills and in-depth industry, product and investment knowledge.
• Strong presentation and communication skills required, as well as an ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
