Job Summary:
MUFG is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst- AVP to provide financial and analytical support for multiple support groups within the Information Technology division of MUFG, known as Integrated Services of Americas (ISA). The supported organizations include Enterprise Information Security, Office of the CIO and Chief Data Officer. This person will report to the ISA VP of Finance and will be responsible for supporting the annual budget and ongoing forecasting processes through accrual, spend and headcount analyses and guiding the operational groups on all financial matters. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Financial Planning & Analysis and the ability to produce analyses that enables financial clarity and discipline for both tactical and strategic decisions.
Major Responsibilities:
• General responsibilities will be 50% budget/forecasting; 20% management reporting; 20% accounting for month-end close; 10% variance analysis.
• Build and prepare monthly financial reports for Executives and managers.
• Coordinate the annual budget process and financial plan.
• Works with project teams and leaders to determine financial requirements for business as usual and ongoing costs related to projects.
• Monitor actual costs and activity within project(s) to ensure proper treatment and accounting. Responsible for assigned month end reporting, including accruing for expenses, proper classification of activity and working with various departments for any additional information.
• Oversee general ledger system, review and monitor financial reports. Review and reconcile vendor systems and sub systems for accuracy and adherence to accounting regulations and tie to the general ledger system.
• Independently conduct investigations and correct information when necessary.
• Prepare forecasting and explanations of variance to budget to management / FP&A.
• Recommend changes to the budget based on management strategies, business activities and for future needs.
Qualifications
Required Skills
• Finance or Accounting (or other relevant business) degree
• Minimum 5 years of financial planning and analysis experience and/or financial/management accounting
• Independent problem solver; ability to extract data from disparate systems and distill into meaningful management information and reports
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under time pressure and handle multiple tasks/projects at the same time.
• Problem resolution skills with strong analytical skills, sound judgment and ability to work effectively with clients and technical staff.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
Desired Skills
• CPA preferred
• Familiarity with standard financial tools: Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft GL, Business Objects, Oracle GL a plus
• Experience within an IT function a plus
• Strong understanding of month-end close
