Duties and Responsibilities
The Compliance Specialist - Lending will report to the Compliance Manager-Lending and Deposits and assist in the execution of an effective compliance program for lending products and services. The job responsibilities will encompass the following as they relate to UMB Bank, n.a.'s consumer and commercial credit card and commercial loan products and services:
-Complete and update risk assessments, under the guidance of the Compliance Manager, to maintain an overview of UMB's compliance risk profile;
-Review line of business policies and procedures for compliance with applicable laws and regulations and provide feedback when corrective action is identified;
-Collaborate with lines of business to assist with the development and implementation of sustainable and effective controls to manage compliance risks;
-Be a supportive resource for questions regarding banking matters;
-Collaborate and support lines of business with corrective actions to timely resolve issues identified by regulatory examinations, internal audits, self-assessments, or Corporate Compliance;
-Participate, in a compliance capacity, in researching and reviewing consumer complaints, providing a timely response to the Consumer Complaint Compliance Analyst;
-Conduct regulatory and compliance risk assessments during product development and onboarding and ongoing reviews of third parties and participate in implementation of approved products and services and third-parties;
-Review marketing materials and incentive compensation to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained;
-Assist in carrying-out the compliance training program by reviewing content and recommending enhancements;
-Conduct transaction testing, as needed, to validate regulatory compliance of product and service enhancements;
-Support Compliance Manager in the aggregation and communication to key stakeholders of compliance risks;
-Participate in internal regulatory action group and regulatory update meetings to maintain departmental knowledge;
-Maintain progressive knowledge and documentation of existing banking laws and regulations; and
-Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (w/ strong emphasis in Accounting or Finance)
-5+ years of experience or equivalent in audit program development, internal control consulting, or risk management utilizing various automated tools and techniques
Preferred Requirements
-Examination experience with a state or federal regulatory agency
-Industry cert: (Cert Regulatory Compliance Manager, Cert Internal Auditor, Cert Bank Auditor, Cert Public Accountant, or Cert Internal Systems Analyst)
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
-Demonstrates extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance of banking laws and third party risk management
-Demonstrates strong working knowledge of banking industry
-Demonstrates understanding of entire life cycle of loan products: origination, underwriting, operations, servicing, collections, and fraud
-Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and assessing compliance risks and recommending appropriate strategies to mitigate risk
-Demonstrates ability to interact effectively with a variety of contacts including senior management
-Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills
-Demonstrates organizational ability to manage multiple tasks with limited direction
-Demonstrates ability to work independently or in a group setting
-Demonstrates proficiency of MS Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word
-Demonstrates ability to show flexibility, as departmental needs change or depending on requirements of the organization
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
-Mastery level proficiency regarding CFPB, FRS, and FFIEC laws, regulations and guidance
-Understanding of product management and operational support
-Policy administration experience
-Advanced decision making aptitude
-Demonstrates ability to deal with and meet tight deadlines
-Experience of examinations from regulatory agency such as CFPB, FRB, FDIC, or OCC

Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm
