JOB PURPOSE
Umpqua’s communications programs reflect the company’s iconic culture, advance its reputation and engage the communities it serves. This position leads the development and implementation of Umpqua’s award-winning PR, social and internal communications programs. This position oversees Internal and external communications functions including PR, social, internal communications channels working with external and internal communication managers to strategize critical communications initiatives and support the team in advocating to executive leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Partner with key internal business group leads to identify and address key communications opportunities that advance Umpqua’s reputation, customer and associate experience, and executive thought leadership.
•Develop quarterly and yearly internal and external communications plans in partnership with communications managers and executive team.
•Develop integrated engagement strategies, across paid, owned and earned, to support business goals and integrated marketing/communications initiatives.
•Prepare communications assets that drive executive thought leadership both internally and externally including videos, speeches, and press materials.
•Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate. Embraces our vision to become "The World's Greatest Bank."

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 6
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising or Business.
•8+ years of demonstrated experience – track record of successfully building and leading communications programs that engage internal and external audiences to drive business results.
•5-8 years demonstrated experience managing and leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrated leadership ability to bring internal and external stakeholders together to collaborate on both short- and long-term projects.
•Proven expertise in developing integrated communications campaigns and initiatives across PR, digital, internal and social.
•Proven ability to create infrastructure for streamlined and efficient delivery of company-wide communications.
•Proven interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to
communicate and consult with internal stakeholders and teams effectively in both small and large group settings.
•Extensive experience managing strategic initiatives while remaining flexible and empowering others to implement and execute.
•Proficient in written and verbal communications. Attention to detail and strong proofreading/editing skills required. Proficient in creating executive communications including speeches, press materials and more.
•Strong knowledge of language and the written word is essential, along with a willingness to step outside of daily duties and offer help when needed.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
•Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
•Occasional travel.
