SUMMARY: Support the Banks collection efforts on past due accounts to help control delinquencies and to mitigate losses. The primary reporting relationship will be with the Director of Default Management but will also operate under the direction of the Consumer Risk Executive. Telephones past due customers within assigned groups of delinquent loans. Identify opportunities for referrals to Loss Mitigation Specialist on accounts that need additional activity to cure a past due situation. Work with the Special Asset Manager on commercial accounts as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Telephones past due customers within assigned groups of Retail Loans.
2. Assists Retail Lenders resolve problem past due accounts as needed.
3. Inspect problem assets as needed to ascertain value to include real estate, vehicles, personal property and commercial inventory and equipment.
4. Works closely with our outside collection services to monitor activity and maximize recovery results and returns for the Bank.
5. Actively participates in weekly retail past due meetings. Report and recommend actions on accounts where needed.
6. Review all policies and procedures as they relate to the fair Debt Collection Practices Act and coordinate changes through Credit Administration management.
7. Miscellaneous collection activities as assigned including, but not limited to, sending collection letters as needed, full demands of past due loans, field calls as assigned, workouts of problem loans and recommendation of charge off to Credit Administration management.
8. Completes, passes and maintains an up to date status for all positional and company required compliance and regulatory courses by assigned due date(s).
9. Participates in special projects and assignments and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or accounting related or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two to three years Bank/Finance Company collections experience.
• Full understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Consumer Protection Regulations and Compliance, including Bank Secrecy Act.
• Strong judgement, decision making and negotiation skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to think independently.
• Knowledge of valuation processes for vehicles and real estate.
• Proficient use and knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system & Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
• Proficiency in general loan/collection systems.
• Ability to read and listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing with senior executives, business unit management and staff, state and federal regulators and officials and significant business partners.
• Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals; strong project management skills desired.

CONTROL RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES: Become knowledgeable regarding the department's internal controls as outlined in the policies and procedures and comply with all control requirements.
COMPLIANCE: Ability to comprehend and adhere to Federal and State banking regulations, including compliance with the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) program. Follows all Company policies and procedures, and successfully participates in regulatory and Company training requirements via multiple and variable delivery methods.
