Patelco is enhancing their Enterprise Risk Management function. Patelco has created a new position, Director of Risk Management. The Director will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer in designing the new risk management framework and then drive the implementation of the new framework. The overall purpose of the risk function is to identify key risks (e.g., operational, compliance, technology, credit, etc.) within the business units; document the risks; discuss mitigation strategies with management; and report results to the executive leadership team and the board.
Responsibilities
• Achieves a deep understanding of the credit union strategy and aligns risk assessments with business units and functional objectives to promote thinking about risk from both an operating and strategic perspective.
• Manages the identification and assessment of enterprise risks, including strategic, operational, and key initiative risks, and works with the appropriate functional risk units and project teams to balance these risks with rewards and develop action plans to enhance the probability that desired objectives will be achieved.
• Drive the risk assessment process associated with strategic decisions across the enterprise and emerging risks to ensure enterprise risks are monitored as conditions change.
• Establishes collaborative relationships with key business owners to assist in the development, assessment and monitoring of mitigation plans for enterprise risks to ensure all risks are managed to an acceptable level.
• Leads all risk assessment sessions related to the key credit union products and projects in order to identify any project risks early in the process in order to minimize surprises and increase project efficiency.
• Enhances Enterprise Risk Management policies, practices, and tools to analyze and report enterprise risks, and to manage risks according to the enterprise risk management framework.
• Develops risk profile reports for each risk unit, analyzes risk information, and issues the official risk summary report on a regular basis.
• Develops and provides organizational ERM training and create awareness through regular ERM training material updates, and integration with the existing online educational system.
• Trains ERM liaisons to focus on the identification of the most significant risks that could affect their ability to achieve and realize their business strategy and objectives. Provides one-on-one training as necessary.
• Enhances communication with management and business units.
• Maintain ERM documents and policy changes, periodic core data updates (financial data, external factors, policy, vendors, etc.), risk matrix audits, etc.
• Communicate with business clients, IS management and staff, vendors, consultants and auditors.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and other technical field or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years of experience in Risk Management.
• Minimum of 5 Years of experience in the Financial Services industry Certifications such as CIA, CRMA, CPA, etc. are a plus
• Previous experience as an Auditor or other Compliance related role.
• Direct supervision and related management duties in Risk Management.
• Knowledge with building reports, dashboards, and scorecards that successfully communicate actionable conclusions to executive management.
• Risk management experience counting acquaintance with risk management governance and controls
• MS Office product applications
• Extensive working knowledge of financial services industry and regulatory requirements.
