Umpqua Bank is seeking a Private Banker in Portland.
This position pursues business development opportunities to establish and maintain relationships with high net worth clients. Networks and manages client relationships and portfolios to meet complex financial needs. Functions as a relationship manager in a team approach to banking and credit services and refers clients to other business units as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develops, establishes, and maintains relationships with high net worth individuals, the professional services industry and their partners, and not-for-profit entities by directly providing and/or coordinating standardized and customized personal and commercial cash management and depository services, secured and unsecured credit and portfolio management.
•Actively networks to identify and target new opportunities to develop and expand client relationships.
•Meets with existing and prospective clients to assess financial service needs and propose solutions. Facilitates group presentations to professional client groups regarding bank products and services in an effort to acquire and expand client portfolio.
•Provides financial advice and counsel to existing and potential customers within appropriate legal constraints.
•Develops and maintains professional referral networks. Partners and collaborates with business unit relationship managers in providing various bank products and services to clients.
•Coordinates the sponsorship of client events to generate business opportunities.
•Maintains a working knowledge of all Umpqua Bank and Umpqua Investments, Inc. products and services in order to effectively cross-sell all appropriate services.
•Comply with all Federal, State, and local consumer protection laws governing loan origination Comply with all Federal, State, and local consumer protection laws governing loan origination including the SAFE Act, their implementing regulations (Regulation G) and SAFE Act registration and renewal rules as defined by the bank.
•Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
•Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
•Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation DD, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
•May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
•Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES none
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing or equivalent required.
•Years of experience: 4 – 5. Prior business development, relationship and portfolio management of high net worth clients, private banking, and/or commercial lending experience.
•Advanced credit and analytical skills with ability to manage complex portfolios and knowledge of bank products and services.
•Involved in community organizations.
•Ability to train and present to small and large audiences of senior level professionals.
•Desire to pursue Series 65 license.
REGISTERED MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR (MLO)
•This position requires you to act as a Bank MLO, which is defined as an individual authorized by the Bank to take mortgage loan applications, offer a mortgage, arrange a mortgage, assist a consumer in obtaining or applying to obtain a mortgage, negotiate a mortgage, otherwise obtain or make a mortgage for another person, represent to the public (through advertising or other means of communication) that such person can or will perform any of these activities, or refer a consumer to a loan originator (Note: Except those employees of the Bank who do not discuss particular credit terms available and do not refer the consumer, based on the employee’s assessment of the consumer’s financial characteristics to a particular Bank MLO) for compensation or gain. All MLOs will be required to register as an MLO complying with the SAFE Act requirements.
•This position IS NOT authorized to act as a Bank Closed-End MLO, which is defined as any position designated to perform the activities of a Bank MLO for closed-end transactions, and therefore this position is limited in acting as a Bank MLO for open-ended transactions (i.e., home equity lines of credit) only.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Work involves extended periods of sitting, occasional walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Requires close visual acuity. Normal office environment.
