The HR Business Partner's primary role is as a trusted advisor, playing a consultative role to New York Life’s leaders and employees in the delivery of all HR services. Key accountabilities include, advising leaders in defining specific talent priorities, educating managers and employees at all levels on HR solutions, representing HR’s perspective in business decisions, and ensuring business perspectives are represented in HR objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Defines and executes workforce planning and strategies
• Guides business leaders through organizational design and staffing decisions and guides managers through organizational change
• Identifies the current and future talent needs to evaluate and develop bench strength
• Manages strategies to identify and develop talent at all levels of the organization
• Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management
• Determines business issues requiring compensation solutions
• Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance
• Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
• Provides business leaders and managers with guidance on policies, procedures and communications
• Leads established HR activities such as the performance management process, employee engagement survey, annual compensation program, and talent review
• Partners with HR delivery areas to identify solutions to business needs and implement core HR programs and policies including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, organizational development, diversity, compensation and systems
• Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree
• PHR / SPHR Certification preferred
• 7+ years HR experience with a demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
• Experience guiding organizational change efforts
• Strong interpersonal skills; tactful, good negotiator, and proven ability to influence and persuade others, including senior leaders
• Experience identifying and solving unique and complex problems that require the application of analytical, conceptual and innovative thinking
• Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities, and ability to successfully multi-task
• Strong collaboration skills and organizational awareness
• Demonstrated ability to thrive and perform in an ever-changing, fast-paced and demanding environment
• A high learning agility and well developed business acumen

1. Operating earnings is the key measure use by management to track Company’s profitability from ongoing operations and underlying profitability of the business. This indicator is based on generally accepted accounting principles in the US (GAAP), with certain adjustments Company believes to be appropriate as a measurement approach (non GAAP), primarily the removal of gains or losses on investments and related adjustments.

Assets under management represent Consolidated Domestic and International insurance Company Statutory assets (cash and invested assets and separate account assets) and third party assets principally managed by New York Life Investment management Holdings LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Company.
