POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Strategy practice provides consulting services spanning domains that include finance, marketing, sales, operations, and information technology.
Our Strategy professionals bring a tailored approach to help develop and operationalize strategies to scale and create specific tactics that trigger transformation. With deep industry experience and extensive knowledge of organizational functions and priorities, our teams align organization’s people, processes and technology across functions, to optimize performance from strategy to execution. Within the Strategy practice you might be involved in:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Corporate Strategy Managing Director, you are involved in the operational aspects of the firm and in helping the partners implement the strategy. You will help organizations proactively shape and implement their overall strategy and growth objectives by executing the following services:
• Strategy definition and alignment
• Strategic and competitive assessments
• Partnership and alliance strategy
• Macrotrend and scenario analysis
More specifically, a Managing Director is expected to excel in the management and execution of engagements, maintain strong relationships with clients at the executive level, and ensure distinct client service and overall quality. A Managing Director is a role model to others in the firm and ensures that we are living the firm’s core values and required behaviors at every opportunity. A Managing Director possess strong technical capabilities and a focus on quality. They have a broad base of industry and functional knowledge and a track record of managing significantly larger and more complex engagements over the course of their career. They work closely with clients at the executive suite, to dive deep into their issues, create strategic recommendations, develop persuasive presentations, and implement change. They are responsible for driving new business relationships, client service and delivery as well as meeting performance criteria expected of leaders in our firm. This may often include leading the strategy execution for a national, regional, or local practice.
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and CEOs of current and potential clients.
• Effectively manage existing client relationships to enhance client satisfaction.
• Effectively manage the fundamentals (i.e., realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, and expenses).
• Successfully integrate industry initiatives with business line strategy.
• Provide technical expertise in the areas of regulations, market practices, trends, economic factors, risk identification, and process improvement recommendations.
• Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management
• Utilize previous consulting and industry experience to help companies set and achieve their long term goals.
• Perform accurate analysis and design effective solutions to a variety of client issues
• Manage business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership material
• Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work
• Maintain a good working relationship with clients and work effectively with client management and staff at all levels to gather information and perform services
• Work closely with Grant Thornton managers and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues
• Access Grant Thornton’s global network to bring the best experience to bear
• Communicate (verbally and in writing) externally with clients and internally with all levels of the organization to successfully accomplish objectives portraying knowledge and confidence
• Manage, develop, train, coach and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
• Motivate others to perform at maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality of the services delivered
• Interview campus and/or experienced candidates
• Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization)
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus. MBA preferred.
• At least ten years of progressive consulting experience or related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross-industry clients at a national level.
• CPA, CAMS, CRCM, ACFCS, CISA, CISSP, CIA, CISM, PMP or related license/certification.
• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, Prosci, or PMP preferred.
• Must be able to perform quantitative and qualitative research and analysis; must possess deep familiarity with primary and secondary research techniques.
• Must be able to produce persuasive, simple, and clear story lines, slides, and other output relevant to audiences of all levels; must have a point of view and be able to express and defend it; must be able to effectively organize and lead client meetings.
• Must have demonstrated new business development experience.
• Must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
• Must be able to quickly establish credibility and trust with clients and colleagues.
• Must be able to design, manage, and execute an independent work plan with the input of your Engagement Manager and team members.
• Must be intellectually curious and motivated to develop professionally, including being an active participant in developing firm methodologies and/or professional certifications.
• Must demonstrate strength in or a desire to build skills related to Grant Thornton’s core values of: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility.
• Must have strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work additional hours and/or travel as needed.
Additional Information:
• Professional services industry or public accounting firm experience is preferred.
• Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
• Various location opportunities: Bellevue, WA (near Seattle), Chicago, Philadelphia, or Atlanta. May consider other major markets
