Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Sourcing for the Banking Solutions & Strategic Initiatives Category, the Senior Category Manager – is responsible for building strong relationships with their business partners and drive the successful enterprise-wide sourcing, category management and contract execution and delivery of related spend categories,, regional banking, transaction banking, wholesale banking spend category delivering the best value to the corporation while building and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance within the vendor sourcing and purchasing areas; develop and instill appropriate sourcing and purchasing process and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with the overall program; influence and support business owners and other groups across the Bank; lead cross-functional teams in support of the Strategic Sourcing and Contracting programs; and responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of the various category spend management across the Bank. This position may be assigned Banking Solutions & Strategic Initiatives engagements within Professional Services, IT Hardware/Software, Bank Operation Services, Business Operations Services, Outsourcing Services, or other categories that require a great deal of industry knowledge.
Major Responsibilities:
70% Sourcing Execution – Design, implementation and execution of bank-wide Strategic Sourcing and Procurement for the Professional Services or Professional spend category ranging from $50 to $200 million in annual spend. Responsible for strategic sourcing execution of assigned category related spend across the Bank. Understand business partner's objectives and business drivers and closely collaborate with business partners while leading the development and delivery of spend category strategies. Provide full and accurate category “market intelligence” by leading and performing in-depth analysis, understanding market drivers, cost structures and advantages on a category level. Responsible for pipeline (value, savings) delivery; in addition to measuring and tracking performance relating to spend and budgetary impact.
20% Strategic Sourcing bi-directional integration with UB Business Owners – Effectively influence stakeholders and business owners, facilitating the Strategic Sourcing process and compliance with Bank policy and practices. Ensure Strategic Sourcing efforts support business objectives and direction; Establish key internal and external relationships enabling multi-year planning and category strategies, supporting sustainable spend management; Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of sourcing initiatives end-to-end.
10% Staff– Lead, define and develop the capabilities of the individuals assigned as direct reports. Responsible for directly supervising staff, including interviewing, hiring staff and the termination of staff; recommending salary changes, job promotions; setting work hours, conducting counseling /performance reviews, and planning of the staff's work. Responsible for ensuring staff comply with all wage and hour regulations.
Qualifications
Additional Information:
• This position requires minimum of 5+ years of strategic sourcing and supplier relations experience in assigned category specialty.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent business experience; MBA preferred;
• Experience in designing, deploying or managing E-Sourcing tools and technology preferred conducting sourcing events such as Reverse Auctions and RFx;Ability to drive performance improvement across a team; strong teamwork and collaboration skills;
• Ability to lead a matrixed team. Collaborates with appropriate experts to solve problems. Demonstrates ability to interact with all levels of associates, management, vendors and counsel;
• Excellent Analytical skills, continuous improvement mind-set;
• Excellent technical Source-to-Pay, negotiations and project management skills;
• Excellent business / financial acumen; understands cost structures and drivers;
• Ability to prioritize and work on multiple activities at one time;
• Excellent written, graphical and oral communication skills with internal clients, external partners and team members; strong influencing and relationship skills; polished interpersonal skills;
• Minimum 5 years of applicable professional services or contract negotiation experience and a demonstrated track record in successfully developing, negotiating, and managing complex agreements.
• Experience with vendor contracts or contract legal language.
• Ability to work and think independently in a dynamic, ambiguous and newly forming organization
