Team Profile:
With offices across the globe and currently a presence in New York, London and Glasgow, the Institutional Securities Technology (IST) Risk function is responsible for helping to manage and mitigate risk for all Sales and Trading development groups supporting the Institutional Securities business.
This London based role sits within the Coverage Risk Officer function which operates to ensure the risk profile for each sub department within IST is managed appropriately in partnership with the client base to ensure the 1st line of defense is maintained to the best of our ability. The role is global in nature with colleagues and key stakeholders based in locations across the world. You will be expected to build relationships across different regions and time zones to deliver the IST Coverage Risk office program of work.
Role Profile:
• Consult, coordinate and partner with IST super departments and Technology Information Risk division to facilitate timely execution of all risk related activities, but not limited to, SOX Certifications, Entitlement Reviews, Audit/Regulatory activities, Technology Control Assessment, Access Management related activities, Security Architecture Reviews and coordination of Business Continuity Planning & Disaster Recovery (BCP/DR) activities.
• Support the Firm Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process throughout the organization that complements current risk mitigation activities and risk identification strategies, plus risk controls and procedures.
• Support standardization in risk management processes and procedures, and ensure adherence to company tools and applications across all Super Departments.
• Monitor and report on remediation actions and programs addressing technology risks.
• Identify weaknesses in the technology control environment and recommend business justified remedial actions.
• Participate in the Risk related forums to help promote / champion the operational risk agenda across the organization and help enhance the overall risk culture.
• Working with global counterparts to provide synergies between regions and Super Departments to develop global best practices, and support Operational Risk related communications.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
• Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in an investment bank with sales and trading, finance, operations, technology or internal audit background.
• Understanding of Operational Risk and associated regulations.
• Project / Program Management experience.
• Ability to communicate and articulate at all levels clearly and concisely, as the role involves a high amount of interaction with senior management across multiple divisions, including Business, Technology, Firm Control organizations (e.g. Legal & Compliance.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and related applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project).
• Driven and motivated self-starter with a can-do approach.
