The Financial Reporting Team Leader draws upon past experience, knowledge and expertise to supervise analyst's preparation of and/or draft and review of annual, semi-annual and quarterly financial statements and Forms (N-SAR, NQ24F-2, and N-CSR) for registered investment companies. The position provides support to the fund's Treasurer in connection with fund expenses and general fund financial information. The individual is also responsible for systems enhancements as they relate to financial reporting needs and development of the group as a whole.
1. Financial Reporting
• Supervise, coordinate, review and/or prepare annual, semi-annual and quarterly financial statements and Form N-SAR, N-Q24F-2, and N-CSR for registered investment companies.
• Prepare and/or supervise fund expense performance.
• Review fund expenses and accruals.
• Review fund expense invoice authorizations.
• Report and communicate statistical and performance data to fund management and industry publications.
• Serve as an escalation point in assisting team members and reports with problem solving and issue resolution; Utilize best judgment to escalate issues to senior managers as appropriate.
• Maintain a working familiarity with applicable laws, regulations and interpretation of governing financial statements and disclosure, including the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Internal Revenue Code, GAAP, Regulation S-X and other applicable requirements.
• Coordinate fund audits with all applicable internal and external parties.
• Communicate appropriately with the Fund Reporting Manager with respect to all timetables and workflow, and communicate to the extent appropriate about all relevant matters with other department members within BBH.
• Perform special projects as directed by the Fund Reporting Manager.
• Maintain knowledge related to regulatory changes affecting funds.
2. Technology/Innovation/Productivity
• Assist in the implementation of proprietary and external systems.
• Evaluate and develop enhancements to BBH Accounting Systems (Eagle/OMEGA) and Merrill Reports to automate procedures for financial reporting purposes.
• Maintain a working knowledge of EDGAR and Merrill Reports systems.
• Communicate appropriately with other department members as well as the Financial Reporting Manager with respect to all timetables, workflows and relevant matters.
3.Leadership/Staff Supervision
• Complete and oversee the completion of the BBH annual performance review process for assigned analysts.
• Maintain a leadership role by developing internal relationships with key people in other departments to accomplish goals and resolve issues.
• Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to staff to improve individual and team performance.
• Participate in the recruiting and hiring process for new staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• BS/BA degree in Accounting or equivalent discipline and/or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of mutual fund industry experience including at least four years of direct financial reporting experience.
• Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
• Highly organized, detail oriented.
• Self-motivated, capable of monitoring and completing a variety of projects simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work well in a deadline oriented, client-driven environment.
