Description
The role is responsible for assisting in the HNAH, HUSI and HBUS’s capital planning process, reporting and monitoring, and the preparation of the capital plan submissions to the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Group’s stress testing requirements for the PRA/EBA.
Impact on the Business
• Responsible for assisting in the preparation of capital plans for HNAH, HUSI and HBUS.
• Assisting in the ongoing update and monitoring of the capital position of HNAH, HUSI and HBUS and ensure the implementation of capital management within HNAH is in line with all current and new regulatory rules and aligned with Group and regional strategy.
• Preparation of monthly capital tracking, monitoring and reporting.
• To build and maintain a detailed understanding and ongoing review of all US and global regulatory rules and assist in the impact assessment for HNAH and its subsidiaries.
• Assist in the preparation of all the capital plan requirements and submissions (AOP, Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) for FRB and Dodd-Frank Act Stress Tests (DFAST) submissions in January, mid-cycle stress testing, Group/PRA stress testing, and quarterly LE capital planning.)
• Assist in the wider capital planning and stress testing process.
• Assist in the preparation of documentation and reports for the key HNAH governance committees for capital management and stress testing.
• Maintain internal risk control assessment and associated control documentation
• Assist in on-going enhancement of the capital planning processes.
Customers / Stakeholders
• Required to work and liaise closely, with the wider Finance function, Risk and other internal functions.
• Preparation of presentations for internal and external audiences and regulators.
• Liaison and coordination with Group on capital management reporting and deliverables.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Work as part of the wider CCAR/PRA stress testing team and be a key member of the capital planning team.
• Required to work and liaise closely with the wider Finance function, Risk, the Global businesses and other internal functions.
• Assist in the monitoring and ensuring compliance with HNAH and Group capital planning and all other policies.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.
• Maintenance and monitoring of HNAH’s governance and control procedures for capital planning and adherence to Group’s policies and standards in GSM and FIMs.
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with HNAH and Group capital planning and all other policies.
• To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
• Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
Major Challenges
• To actively participate and deliver on the CCAR/PRA requirements and work in close co-ordination with other Finance and Risk function.
• To ensure production and maintenance of high quality technical, procedural and project documentation.
• To understand the impact and requirements of the evolving and complex regulatory requirements with respect to CCAR and the capital adequacy assessment process.
Role Context
• This position may be found in one of the following areas: Other global regions capital planning teams undertaking capital planning and ICAAP processes for local regulatory and Group purposes
Management of Risk
• Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, business management, related field and/or equivalent experience in the financial services industry.
• Knowledge of the principles of bank capital and regulatory policy preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas both written and verbally to multiple stakeholders.
• Strong teamwork.
• Ensuring production and maintenance of high quality technical, procedural and project documentation.
• Strong computer skills including spreadsheet and modelling capabilities.
