Group Financial Security overview:
Group Financial Security (“GFS U.S.”) is a department within the BNP Paribas Group Compliance function. GFS U.S. is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the Group’s efforts to prevent money laundering, combat corruption & terrorist financing and comply with international sanctions.
GFS U.S., created in June 2014, results from the transfer of sanctions compliance from the Group Financial Security in Paris to the newly-established department in New York. GFS U.S. responsibilities include policy-setting, training, alerts escalation and investigation, and sanction advisory functions. GFS U.S. is also responsible for performing risk oversight and on-site control reviews.
Responsibilities of the GFS On-Site Controls:
GFS U.S. On-Site Controls operates as a permanent level of control and is responsible for conducting On-Site reviews of BNP Paribas entities worldwide to ensure compliance with Group requirements, in the area of financial security. GFS U.S. conducts reviews according to an annual risk-based plan, leveraging risk assessments prepared by GFS US Risk Oversight. The reports issued by On-site Controls aim to reinforce the financial security set-up and ensure compliance with regulations and Group requirements. On-Site Controls tracks the implementation of remedial action plans and the status of these actions are incorporated into risk monitoring and assessment processes.
Position overview:
The On-Site Controls Officer will support GFS U.S. On-Site Controls by leading and managing review teams to execute On-Site Control Reviews under the direction of a Director of GFS U.S. On-Site Controls. The Officer will be expected to perform work to a high degree of proficiency. Work is expected to be comprehensive to manage reviews and to satisfy the stated scope and objectives. This position requires 25-30% international travel to countries where BNP Paribas has offices, operation, or business interests which may include developing world countries. Extended stay up to 6 weeks may be required in these locations.
The On-Site Controls Officer primary duties and responsibilities:
• Review planning, resource management, and managing client/stakeholder relationships
• Determine the scope of reviews, developing testing approach, assigning team members with responsibilities, review project management, agreeing findings with stakeholders and preparing high quality reports.
• Provide subject matter/technical advice to staff on assignment, as needed.
• Manage the delivery of On-Site reviews to time, plan, budget and quality using methodology and quality standards.
• Mentor, coaching and supporting professional development of staff.
• Review team member’s performance and provide performance assessment and feedback.
• Demonstrate strong and effective time management.
• Exhibit appropriate values, ethics, and attitudes.

Required Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree, finance or business related majors. Graduate degree a plus.
• 7 – 10 years’ experience in a banking environment.
• 5 + years’ experience in General Inspection/Audit in complex global financial services organization.
• 3+ years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional certifications a plus: CIA, CISA, CAMS, CFA, etc.
• Experience in Compliance with a strong knowledge of OFAC requirements.
• Working knowledge of banking products and services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Experience leading teams and projects.
• Decisiveness and sound judgment on a consistent basis.
• High level of detail orientation and organization.
• Flexibility to adapt to new changing environment.
• Team player with demonstrated track record in self-initiative and time management.
• Ability to travel internationally and comply with travel visa requirements.

• Knowledge of BNP Paribas Group activities and organization a plus.
• Working knowledge of automated auditing techniques a plus.
