Description
The Reporting Unit is part of Annuities Finance and has responsibility for both GAAP and Statutory Financial Statements for the Annuities business. The unit is responsible for preparing monthly / quarterly financial statements, analyzing results and consolidation, as well as quarterly/annual SEC filings and Statutory Reporting. This position would primarily focus on the reporting and analysis of the statutory segment results and supporting the development of new product initiatives for the Annuities business, including accounting policy conclusions.
Position exists within the Annuities Finance organization of Prudential Financial, Inc. (PFI) that provides a variety of accounting and reporting experiences as well as significant interaction with Corporate Controllers senior management, Business Unit Controllers, Corporate and Business Unit Actuarial and our independent public accountants. This position requires strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills. Successful candidates would gain an in-depth understanding of the Annuities Business as well as the Company. Specific responsibilities of these positions may include the following:
• Oversight, reporting and analysis of quarterly statutory results for the Annuities segment
• Analyzing complex transactions, including but not limited to those related to insurance and reinsurance accounting
• Support a variety of business unit strategic initiatives including new product development
• Analyzing emerging accounting and reporting issues from standard setters and implementation of new or changing accounting guidance by impacted areas within the Annuities Business
• Developing various presentations for use by senior management
• Assist with the maintenance of SOX and MAR controls. Serve as “point” person for audit inquiries and SOX walkthroughs
• Support the Annuities organization reporting requirements resulting from Federal Reserve supervision and regulation as a non-Bank SIFI
• Responsible for all management aspects of staff of up to 3, including managers and associate managers
• Various ad hoc requests as needed.
The successful candidate will also work closely, develop relationships with, and become a trusted business advisor to our business partners in the Annuities Business, Actuarial, Accounting Policy, Risk Management, Treasurers, Corporate Controllers, Corporate Tax, Internal and External Audit and Statutory Reporting. The candidate will have an opportunity to interact with individuals at all levels, including senior financial management.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA license or MBA preferred
• Knowledge of statutory insurance accounting preferred
• Knowledge of insurance products and actuarial concepts preferred
• Strong technical, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under tight time frames
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues in a concise and understandable manner to non-subject matter experts, both verbally and in writing
• Strong management and staff development skills
• Highly motivated team player
