Job Summary:
The Unsecured Lending Operations and Originations Manager is an executive position responsible for the unsecured lending operations direction, growth, compliance and coordination of all activities to ensure achievement of financial goals and expectations. The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to plan and implement both long and short-range strategic plans and initiatives, formulate policies and business goals and to function as liaison between partner and support areas. Major responsibilities include:
• Responsible for the unsecured lending operations direction, growth, compliance and coordination of all activities to ensure achievement of financial goals and expectations.
• Determines and formulates policies and business goals and provides overall direction to meet and exceed business objectives and goals.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and processes to increase customer satisfaction, conversions, reduce errors, strengthen controls, and ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
• Develop and report metrics of operation efficacy and effectiveness.
• Ensure the delivery of customer service is within prescribed service level commitments.
• Manage departmental/ divisional projects and initiatives while providing input to the decisions which impact the strategies and direction of unsecured lending.
• Act as the unit's operational representative in strategic cross-organizational projects/initiatives with BTMU, identifying solutions that meet compliance and risk management objectives and facilitate the growth of the business.
• Resolve complex operational issues through the utilization of a comprehensive understanding of bank policy and procedures, the operational risk and regulatory requirements they are designed to manage; while balancing those elements against service expectations within a cross-cultural context.
• Maintain a high level of employee engagement and accountability related to operations and customer service standards.
• Ensure employee competency and effectiveness through the identification of training gaps and subsequent coordination of appropriate training, coaching, and development plans.
• Function as liaison between Bank Operations Administration, Enterprise Fraud Management, Corporate Security & Investigations, Legal, Product, Compliance and other support areas.
• In cooperation with the Retail Compliance Unit, bank-wide compliance programs, policies, procedures, plans and controls consistent with regulations and regulatory policies.
• Responsible for planning and implementing both long and short-range strategic plans and initiatives.
• Provides leadership, advice, and guidance to managers relative to unsecured lending operations.
• Takes a leadership role on various executive committees and task forces responsible for long-range planning.
• Plans, directs, and coordinates operational activities at a senior management level.
• Takes overall responsibility and accountability for business operations
• Works closely with other executives and senior managers to facilitate problem solving, and to obtain necessary resources to meet objectives.
• Manages the development of the annual budget.
• Ensures operations are within the financial guidelines of the budget.
• Implements cost containment and efficiency measures.
• Must be able to report to management and the board the significance and impact of the information and make proactive recommendations based on analysis.
• Must be able to make presentations to the board and various levels of management in written and verbal formats.
• Requires communication with regulators.
Qualifications
Education, Licensure, Year of Experience, and Type of Work Experience
• 10+ years’ previous work experience in a senior level management position
• 15 years’ experience in personal lending, specifically in operations and/or originations
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategies within a retail bank environment
• Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent managerial and leadership skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Comprehensive knowledge of unsecured lending and the environmental conditions in areas where the Bank does business.
• Proficient in all Bank products and services and alternative delivery channels within a retail bank.
• Ability to make decisions independently and obtain maximum staff performance.
