The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, we continually strive to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.
Team Profile
Operations Risk and Regulatory Control (ORRC) ensures adequate controls are in place, through providing an integrated risk and control framework to govern, assess, mitigate and manage financial and operational risk in Operations.
The specific areas of focus for the VP candidate will be within the Operational Risk Governance (ORG) team. ORG drives a variety of Operations-wide risk programs and control initiatives including but not limited to Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Risk Reporting, Information Security, Business Continuity, Vendor Management and New Product Approval governance.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitors and reports Incidents, Key Risk Indicator Metrics, Audit Results, Information Security issues, Technology issues, Compliance findings and Regulatory Reviews.
Leads the Operational Risk Incident Analysis and Oversight for Operations in order to ensure that risk events in are timely identified, accurately captured and adequately remediated.
Develops Ops-wide risk reporting & analytics which assists management in ensuring the effectiveness of controls.
Reports and assesses residual risk exposure and escalates findings to senior management via governance meetings.
Coordinates significant Firm-wide risk programs for Global Operations.
Promoting a risk aware culture across operations.

We are looking for a resourceful and dedicated VP candidate who can help design, deliver and implement critical elements of the Operations Control Risk Agenda across all regions for Morgan Stanley Global Operations
Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
The role requires clear and effective communication, interpersonal skills and good analytical skills.
Experience in communication with Senior Management is essential due to the nature of the role.
Business knowledge of financial products is required to provide effective risk challenge.
Knowledge and experience in the development and enhancement of Control Frameworks.
The successful candidate will be a well-organized control & risk focus individual, able to interact with people at all levels within the organization.

Skills Desired
Previous experience within Risk, Audit or Compliance functions.
Knowledge of Trade Lifecycles across one or all asset classes.
Knowledge of Operations functions.
Proven relationship management skills and ability to influence others.
Ability to understand issues and move projects forward.
Good IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel).
