Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CRE Underwriter II is primarily responsible for the underwriting, due diligence and credit analysis of new high-quality commercial real estate loans for the Bank's balance sheet.
The CRE Underwriter II will develop relationships with borrowers, potential borrowers, loan brokers and other individuals that drive commercial real estate loan business to the Bank in order to source and verify information required to make an informed credit decision.
The CRE Underwriter II will be responsible for executing transactions independently and will be responsible for managing larger or more complex transactions. The CRE Underwriter II will also help train and assist more junior underwriters.
DESCRIPTION
• Calculates property level cash flow, determines appropriate debt amounts and assesses the overall creditworthiness of a proposed transaction. Prepares credit memorandums summarizing transaction fundamentals, credit analysis and due diligence for new commercial real estate loan transactions. Identifies, investigates and escalates credit concerns or questions. Ensures that all CRE loans conform to the Bank's lending policies and procedures.
• Correspond with borrowers and loan brokers to obtain and/or clarify property and borrower related information for new loan origination or existing loan portfolio management.
• Works with loan officers, loan closers, external counsel and others to resolve credit related issues during the loan origination and closing process as well as for existing loans.
• Collect data and prepare special reports for senior management.
• Complete site visits and attend other events on behalf of the Bank.

Requirements
• College degree (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance or real estate.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate lending (including at least 2 years in an underwriting or credit risk management role) with a strong understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
