DESCRIPTION:
Within the Alternative Investment Group of Investment Solutions, the Fund Solutions and Oversight Team is involved in managing the ongoing operation of the proprietary feeder fund complex consisting of hedge funds and private equity funds, including relationships with third party administrators and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the feeder funds books and record. In addition, this Team is also involved in formation and governance of the feeder funds including regulatory filings. As well as the development of new platform level client solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Liaison and oversight of third party fund administrators includes leading monthly meetings, performance monitoring, issue resolution, maintain issue log and identify solutions to streamline processes.
• Participate in feeder fund formation process including:
◦ Identification of third party fund administrators
◦ Establish bank accounts
◦ Lead meetings prior to fund launch to ensure that all operational issues are identified and addressed.
◦ Establish and monitor private equity close dates working with Product Development, Sales and Product Management
◦ Ensure Firm’s corporate secretarial system, Blueprint, is updated as well as covered fund assessment tool in timely and accurate manner.
◦ Ensure all regulatory filing requirements are met for Form D, Blue Sky, NFA and any others.
• Perform quarterly attestations for Blueprint including reconciliation and updates as necessary. Liaise with Firm’s Reg Y reporting team on regular basis.
• Assist in tracking of regulatory filings for the NFA and other regulatory bodies as identified. Ensuring that all filings are met on a regular basis.
• Participate in designing processes involving new client solutions including interaction with impacted teams such as Operations, Investor Relations, Product Development, Product Management and Tax; develop process flows and procedures; lead vendor management process to ensure that new vendors are approved including review by information security.
• Participate in fund governance oversight including maintenance of committee charters, signatory lists, meeting minutes and any other necessary items.
• Build meaningful relationships with internal and external partners including third party administrators, Product Management, Product Development, Investor Relations, Legal, Compliance and other Morgan Stanley teams outside of Wealth Management.
• Special projects related to platform level client solutions, as required.
• Maintain and develop departmental procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate firm guidelines
Qualifications
Skills Required
• 10+ years of financial services experience
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
• Robust writing skills including a pristine attention to detail
• Excellent analytical skills, ability to think outside box and understand the big picture.
• Ability to draft and review documents and process flows. Knowledge of Visio a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, innovative and flexible in high paced team environment.
• Demonstrated relationship building skills with stakeholders, peers, external parties and all levels of management.
• Experience in design and implementation of new processes, project management skills, a plus
• Extensive knowledge of Alternative Investments including private equity and hedge funds and fund structures.
• BS / BA degree in Business, Finance or Economics, required.
