Director, Technology Business and Portfolio Management

Mandate:
The Director, Technology Business & Portfolio Management will report directly into the US CIO and US Personal & Commercial CIO and is responsible and has the primary accountability for overall management of annual planning, business and financial reporting, regulatory compliance and audit, vendor management and resource management.
Key Accountabilities:
US P&C Technology Planning
• Collaborates with the business groups to support strategic and annual planning efforts
• Informs US P&C Technology partners of business strategies, plans, priorities and initiatives
US P&C Technology Business / Financial Reporting / Resource Management
• Accountable for overseeing monthly and quarterly business reviews and financial reporting requirements for both the US P&C Technology portfolio as well as the US Technology portfolio for governance purposes.
• Ensures a consistent approach and management of the portfolio resource plan, inclusive of all resource channels (Headcount/FTE, contingent, contractor and global resources)
US Regulatory, Compliance and Audit (First Line of Defense)
• Accountable for overseeing the regulatory, compliance and audits for the US P&C Technology portfolio through a team on compliance/audit professionals.
• Responsible for staying current on regulatory trends related to technology management and within the context of the banking industry
US Vendor Management
• Responsible for the overall vendor management office function in ensuring a return on investment in outsourced services
• Drives accountability of vendors/suppliers to influence quality and on-time delivery
Leadership
• Leads a team in managing and building positive relationships with Business Partners, technology team members, project team members, and other key stakeholders
• Establishes a culture and work environment that attracts, retains and motivates the highest caliber of skilled business management professionals
• Builds and grows talent by developing skills and capabilities to ensure US P&C Technology portfolio success, achieve business and technology results, and improve the end-to-end customer and employee experience
• Provides thought leadership related to effective operational management of a technology development function
Change Management & Innovation
• Acts as a change agent, influencing business partners to support and implement appropriate methodologies in critical process/program improvement initiatives.
• Leads change in support of a high performance culture by successfully embedding process improvement methodologies as a way of doing business.
• Serves as the lead change agent within US P&C Technology by driving the required cultural transformation and the adoption of successful process improvement practices and by identifying barriers to success within the business and across vertical groups and facilitating resolution as appropriate.
• Facilitates impacts of change within the business or division ensuring the units understand business strategy that is driving the change for improvements.
Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Possesses a university degree/college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent work experiences. Master’s degree in Computer Science or MBA with technology as a core component preferred
• Demonstrates deep knowledge of business process, market trends, technology trends, other trends, and latest innovations impacting the financial services industry
• Seasoned level of knowledge of the technology business, change management, project management, financial planning
• Maintains an advanced understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
• Is able to achieve results that meet both short and long term business objectives
• Exhibits a proven track record in achieving or exceeding objectives
Skills:
• Expert analytical, critical and conceptual thinking and communication skills
• Expert leadership/people management and communication skills in broad, complex and diverse business areas
• Expert ability to meet deadlines, manage costs, impact and influence business outcomes, handle multiple priorities, build relationships at both the team and executive levels
• Advanced level of business acumen, accountability and financial proficiency
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to manage outcomes through management and influence of multiple stakeholders at the most senior levels within the organization
• Proven record of initiative-taking in matters of strategic importance to the organization
• Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to generate change that clearly contributes to business success
• Courage and self-confidence in dealing with issues and broadly communicating information across the organization
• Ability to provide long-term strategic guidance to one or more major technical, business or support units
• Proven track record of success in managing simultaneous multiple, diverse and complex initiatives
Experience
• In depth expertise in IT development and implementation, acquired through 10+ years of IT managerial experience supporting financial services
• Possesses 10+ years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT delivery team
• Advanced experience in business/IT strategic planning and project management/consulting, preferred
• Advanced working experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
