Director, External Communications
The communications team is focused on driving programs and activities that will build, support and defend Mastercard’s reputation among key audiences. The broader team has been designed to closely mirror the business and support the company’s efforts in delivering world-class payments experiences.
This role will report to the vice president of external communications and work closely with his/her colleagues to develop a comprehensive strategy to expand the reach and impact of the Mastercard story. This director will be one of the team’s subject matter experts, including but not limited to the areas of credit, debit, prepaid and commercial payments.
Role
• Partner with several internal business units to identify and refine the Mastercard value story
• Work across traditional and digital channels, as well as geographic regions, to tailor programs based on understanding of local business needs and priorities
• Identify industry and market trends to understand key perceptions, motivations and drivers related to payments, technology and security
• Leverage relationships with key media and industry analysts to support of planned product/service launches and corporate announcements
• Support daily operations and management of the company's corporate news bureau/newsroom
• Nurture and develop positioning for products and services that will help advance the company’s corporate value story
• Use measurement tools to assess the impact of communications programs to refine activities

• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong relationship management skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups
• Creative thinker possessing high level of comfort with fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Strong ability to prioritize, multitask and manage to deadlines
• Ability to translate complex product and business materials into easily understood, actionable programs
• Comfortable presenting complex issues to internal and external audiences
• Solid understanding of balancing and prioritizing needs of multiple stakeholders
• Payments industry and consumer technology experience preferred, but not required
