Business Overview:
Strategic Financial Management is the main entry point for Americas Business Lines and Functions for all Finance-related issues. The Finance Client Service Team (CST) works closely with all teams within Finance & Tax to assist in the seamless coordination and execution of tasks on behalf of their clients, with the aim of maintaining a consistent level of deliverable quality / timeliness and responsiveness to the client. Members of the Finance CST build extensive knowledge of the Business operations and maintain expertise in the area of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Finance operational setup, procedures and responsibilities.
The Institutional Platform CST directly supports the senior management and Business Managers of the Global Markets and Securities Services (BP2S) business lines and the ALM Treasury function. The Global Markets Americas (GMA) organization offers to clients, mainly Institutional Investors and Hedge Funds, access to markets worldwide and delivers innovative and dedicated equity, fixed income and commodity products as well solutions through research, trading and sales of derivatives.
Responsibilities:
• Produce and analyze key financial reporting on RWA, balance sheet, liquidity and cash usage-related activities with a focus on meaningful analytics that the Business can rely on for strategic decisions. This includes variance analysis vs. budgets / internal targets, highlighting trends, and following up on questions and/or concerns.
• Provide commentary on balance sheet and associated P&L evolution to Finance Management, Finance regulatory teams and other support areas who use it to ensure accurate financial statements and regulatory reporting and understand key business drivers, with a special focus on reporting on the BNPP US Intermediate Holding Company (IHC).
• In conjunction with the balance sheet reporting, produce and analyze client profitability and balances reporting for the Prime Brokerage (PB) business.
• Proactively seek ways to improve processes, control procedures, and workflow organization to increase the team’s efficiency and effectiveness. This includes engagement with PB Front Office to help automate the PB Balances and Client and Sales data and the Montreal FSS Performance Management team for report production.
• Analyze and provide commentary on Transfer Pricing invoices and maintain the GM Enhanced Booking Model grid of which legal entities the various activities are booked on.
• Partner with the Montreal Finance teams on the reconciliation of accounting and liquidity reporting, with the goal to minimize completion gaps for which the business is assessed a liquidity cost.
• Maintain an active dialogue with the business, central Performance Management teams, and local Synthesis Reporting on instructions, methodologies, and analysis of actuals and budget.
• Participate in annual budget process, including consolidation of business unit submissions, analysis, resolution of differences, and preparation of Senior Management presentations.
• Work closely with the Finance project team in supporting projects with a Finance component impacting the Institutional Platform.
• Advise the business on accounting treatment topics.
• Partner with the Business, ITO Drive and Finance teams (Accounting Norms, Financial Reporting Group and Regulatory Reporting) to support the new activity / transaction (NAC/TAC) approval process, determining the applicable accounting treatment, booking aspects, regulatory treatment, P&L recognition etc.
• Assist the Finance production teams during month end close to ensure accurate business line profitability by legal entity, where required.
• Reply to questions from Business Management, Finance Management, Finance Production, and other groups within the CIB organization with accurate and timely responses.
• Prepare ad hoc analytical reports and other presentations to aid Finance and Business senior management in decision making.
• Ensure backup coverage with other team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Self-starter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-focused environment
• Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or Math from a reputable college / university.
• 8 years of work experience in a Finance department preferably within a global financial services company.
• Basic knowledge of business concepts related to Banking business, particularly within Equity or Fixed Income business areas.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, with knowledge of USGAAP and IFRS a plus.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong skills in PowerPoint, Word, etc.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain key relationships with Business heads and managers, Head Office and other Finance and support groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Specific knowledge of Prime Brokerage activities.
• CPA Certification
• Familiarity with financial reporting systems and database reporting tools such as Hyperion.
• Familiarity with BNP performance management and Middle Office tools (Vinci, Paradigm, Primo, Plato, etc.) a plus.
• Experience supporting projects end-to-end.
