Job Summary:
Develops go-to-market plans and growth strategies that drive profitability and value for our Commercial Card customers. Oversees Commercial Card customer experience elements of the customer relationship including coordination across all service delivery channels. Recommends business strategies to leverage commercial card products, card payment applications, and associated services to increase acquisition and retention of Commercial, T&E, Fleet, and AP Solutions customers. Provides leadership in the implementation of initiatives with cross-functional business partners. Responsible for all aspects of sales, implementation and business development of Commercial Card products.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
■ Develops go-to-market plans and growth strategies that drive profitability and value for our Commercial customers. Manages the Commercial credit card product line P&L. Oversees new business development and ensures alignment with the program's overall strategic goals and objectives.
■ Develops and executes Commercial credit card strategies designed to grow the portfolio and improve both the organization's and their employees' customer experience. Develops a roadmap for Commercial credit card products, including sales, acquisition, on-boarding, servicing, retention, and growth.
■ Conducts regular review of market trends and studies competitor activities to identify opportunities. Initiates product ideas and ongoing features/benefits tailored for each target segment. Understands and owns product performance and metrics: responsible for tracking all key performance indicators. Develops and maintains the Commercial card policy to be used internally and externally by operations, credit, and third-party service providers.
■ Provides leadership and drives the implementation of initiatives with cross-functional business partners. Builds and strengthens relationships with internal and external partners. Partners with Community Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury Management and Retail sales leaders to drive customer cross-sell of commercial credit card products.
■ Leads and coordinates research and analysis of corporate, industry, political and economic data and trends to identify opportunities for enhancement of existing and proposed product offerings. Develops, implements and evaluates modeling process for use in determining opportunities to enhance or augment product lines.
■ Negotiates agreements, including pricing, with existing Commercial card customers and prospects. Manages key business relationship in accordance with contractual obligations. Troubleshoots issues and problems and implements permanent solutions where appropriate.
■ Creates business development plans and ensures growth goals are met with regard to new and existing commercial products.
■ Provides subject matter expertise on industry/competitors and product knowledge.
■ Provides product training for front-line bankers, operational partners, and appropriate customer support partners across the footprint for product knowledge and implementation of new and existing Commercial card products.
■ Participates in promotional conferences, tradeshows, expos and other related forums regarding commercial payments.
■ Maintains expert knowledge of commercial payment platforms that leverage card payments including Synovus Corporate APSolutions products and technology platforms to increase revenue and ensure effective delivery of complex solutions that satisfy clients' needs.
■ Manages the day-to-day activities of the Commercial Card Products, Services and Sales Team. Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
■ Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
■ Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
■ Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
■ Minimum Experience: 10 years of comprehensive experience managing commercial credit card products, services and sales
■ Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Deep understanding of the credit card/payments value chain (merchants, brands, acquirers, gateways, vendors, etc.); awareness of industry and competitors and impact of both on business
- Understanding of fundamentals of purchasing process in large organizations and accounting flow of payables and receivables
- Flexibility to work in an evolving environment, where change is the norm
- Demonstrates strong selling skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to respond effectively to RFP's
- Ability to prepare pricing proposals and financial offers for clients within delegated authority
- Excellent understanding of card specific compliance issues and requirements
- Good competency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Exceptional ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to efficiently plan and manage numerous projects and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work well under tight deadlines in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to work in a matrix environment, requiring input from different departments and lines of business
- Ability to work independently when needed to drive programs to successful completion
Additional Job information:
■ Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Program/Product Management experience
- Experience managing or overseeing digital technologies is a plus
- Experience translating business strategy and analysis into commercial card products/services
- Experience with the TSYS Commercial Card platform and project methodology
- Accounts payable experience is a plus
- Previous supervisory or management experience
