Anti-Financial Crime (AFC)
Our AFC team is responsible for protecting Deutsche Bank from financial and reputational losses incurred by financial crimes by assessing, controlling and mitigating risks. Risk types related to Anti-Financial Crime are consolidated in a comprehensive and effective risk management framework that covers Anti-Money-Laundering, Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Bribery & Corruption as well as Anti-Fraud & Investigations.
Position Overview
The AFC Strategy & Transformation Team’s mandate is to provide an expert view of the existing Deutsche Bank AFC control framework and to recommend, and where necessary to action, identifiable improvements.
Reporting regionally to the Deputy Head, Americas Anti Financial Crime (AFC) and functionally to the Global Head of AFC Strategy & Transformation, the person filling this role will primarily be responsible for managing a team (both direct and virtual reports) of AFC subject matter experts (SMEs) whose remit will include, but not be limited to, the provision of AFC-specific advice, guidance and opinion to relevant change projects/programmes as well as providing an ongoing advice, guidance and opinion provision capability for day-to-day AFC teams.
Main responsibilities and powers (non-exhaustive)
To ensure that there are sufficient expert resources available to provide the level of support required to their respective internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that AFC subject matter expertise is provided and aligned into each of the Project Mercury workstreams.
To be the point of escalation for all matters arising from key change programs and to take ownership of such issues as are required to ensure either a swift resolution is achieved or further relevant escalation is undertaken.
To make immediate on-the-ground decisions in any given scenario and ensure that any such decisions which require Senior Management ratification are escalated in a timely manner.
To ensure that Senior Management are kept fully appraised of all developments and are able to brief Board level management to the degree required in a timely manner.
To proactively provide advice and opinion on any AFC-relevant issue to the Global Head of AFC Strategy & Transformation as necessary
To act as the appointed delegate for the AFC Regional Head in any forum as required.
Position Requirements
• University degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Accounting or Economics. Relevant post grad degree,
• 10 + years of experience in the industry or relevant work experience in a comparable organization, exchange or regulatory institution,
• Understanding of, anti-money laundering regulations, financial markets/ regulatory environment, suspicious activity reporting process,
• Subject-matter/technical expertise in all AML topics
• Management experience required, ideally in the context of an outsourced or multi-jurisdictional function / team,
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and put in place effective change strategy
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to document results and recommend improvements to financial crimes and operational procedures,
• Ability to effectively work with a variety of stakeholders from different backgrounds and across different jurisdictions,
• Versatile and flexible with the ability to manage with ambiguity,
• CAMS (preferred).
