Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (“MIDIS”) is Macquarie’s infrastructure debt asset management platform. MIDIS invests in and manages infrastructure debt assets for institutional investors. The group was founded in London in 2012 and has since grown into a leader within infrastructure debt with a global presence. Among other accolades, MIDIS has been named as Private Debt Investor’s Infrastructure Debt Fund Manager of the Year for Europe for 3 years in a row (2014-2016).
Within Macquarie, MIDIS is a part of Macquarie Specialized Investment Solutions (“MSIS”), one of three divisions of Macquarie Asset Management (“MAM”). MAM is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets
A position in the MIDIS Investment Team offers a rare opportunity to gain credit buy-side experience with a global leader in the sector. The successful candidate will join a newly established infrastructure debt team in the New York office. The team combines the best of Macquarie's deep infrastructure debt experience with a flexible and highly dynamic approach to investing for our clients and growing the opportunity for the business.
The successful candidate will join the infrastructure debt investment team to assist with the growth of the platform including the origination, assessment and execution of new investment opportunities and management of existing portfolio assets.
The Vice President will:
• Take responsibility for all aspects of new investments including credit analysis, approvals and commercial negotiations
• Develop and build relationships with external borrower counterparties
• Supervise and review due diligence
• Oversee the building/sensitizing of financial models
• Assess and comment on commercial contracts
• Negotiation of terms sheets and documentation of facility agreements
• Responsibility for producing investment papers and responding to client and Investment Committee requests
• Monitor portfolio assets including assessment of amendment requests
• Assist in the development of junior team members
• Have involvement in relationship management with new and existing investor clients
Education and Experience:
• 6-8 years’ experience in Project, Corporate or Structured Finance, Debt Advisory or Investment Banking
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage external relationships
• Transaction experience within power, renewables, midstream and infrastructure
• Be highly motivated, proactive, and be able to execute critical work streams with limited supervision and direction
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Understanding of legal documentation including security agreements
• Be highly numerate
• Have strong financial modelling skills including exposure to cashflow and ratio analysis
• Have a familiarity with a range of specialist due diligence materials and reports
• Possess debt financing experience either in a lending, debt advisory or arranging role. Candidates with a well-rounded exposure to loan underwriting, due diligence and transaction financing will be preferred
• Possess outstanding interpersonal and team-working skills that will enable the candidate to build relationships with senior team members, colleagues across the Macquarie Group, with borrowing clients and their advisors and with institutional investor clients
• Demonstrate sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic and creative approach to problem solving
