Barclays Internal Audit
BIA Overview: BIA aims to provide independent, reliable, valued, insightful and timely assurance to the Board and executive management over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control over current and evolving risks, in the context of the current and expected business environment and in accordance with the international standards definition of internal auditing.

Overall purpose of role: Work collaboratively with others to develop strong client relationships and lead delivery of BIA Audit Plan to include:
• Supporting the BIA Management Team (“MT”) member to successfully deliver all their objectives on time and to a high standard
• Act as a contact point both internally within BIA, with regulators and with other business / functions throughout Barclays to support global completion of BIA deliverables through effective communication, guidance and co-ordination with the Business/Functional teams e.g. Planning, Reporting, Quality Assurance, MI and project delivery.
• Enhance the quality and consistency of information/ reporting/ communications within the team through a robust check and challenge of data, ensuring deliverables are fit for purpose and teams are appropriately following through on their deliverables e.g. report deliverables, Business MI and outstanding issue updates etc.
• Support the implementation of BIA operational and strategic projects and programmes, working alongside the other Business Manager’s to ensure consistency and approach enables the most effective and efficient processes are adopted.
• To challenge the status quo in BIA and the Group, exploring opportunities for operational efficiencies, simplification of processes and enhancements to the way we do business.
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
• Review MI and challenge exceptions to KPIs with management team to identify root cause issues, implement actions to address and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Promote accurate data quality in the team.
• Co-ordinate communications, requests and meetings materials for regulators
• Assist audit leadership to ensure deliverables are met within stated timelines.
• Effective and efficient use of the team’s resources and budget and challenge effective planning of all audit deliverables e.g. Audit Plans, audit reports etc.
• Ensure team adherence to all Barclay’s policies and BIA processes – meeting all operational administrative processes, e.g. Corporate Cards, mandatory learning etc
• Monitor regulatory issues raised and facilitate BIA team awareness of the issue and ensure an up to date status is reflected within the regulatory reporting system.
• Promote a culture of efficiency through use of expert knowledge to focus audit plan and to support BIA strategic direction.
• Assist strategic projects across BIA (e.g. 3 lines of defence).
• Strive to empower others to bring efficiency to audit processes and use of Agile techniques.
• Build a deep understanding of the strategy of each business area of the organisation responsible for which may impact the audit plan, including social/economic/technological trends in all client and customer groups. Understand client/customer needs to be able to adapt, where appropriate.
• Support relevant BIA Director/MDs in defining the risk profile for their business area; use this to define and manage the audit plan.
• Contribute to clear and insightful committee reporting, audit reporting and propose pragmatic remediation actions, relevant to the issues raised by BIA.
Stakeholder management and leadership.
• Develop a wide network of contacts across BIA and the business to identify and work towards strategic goals.
• Own and drive personal learning to support achievement of career aspirations.
• Engage and motivate others to develop their skills/knowledge/experience to contribute to the success of BIA.
• Celebrate the success of self and others and take pride in achievements.
• Provide constructive feedback and evaluation to team members for assignments and support Directors in their assessment of Assistant Vice Presidents (AVPs)
• Act as mentor and coach to less experienced team members and support others to develop. Provide guidance to AVPs during audit assignments.
• Contribute to the attraction of the best people through their role in the recruitment process.
• Create an environment to encourage knowledge sharing, asking questions and sharing viewpoints with BIA colleagues.
• Ensure the inclusion of all colleagues, regardless of background or circumstances.
• Work collaboratively to drive team performance, embedding the performance management culture and role modelling Barclays’ values and behaviours.
• Proactively take on additional tasks as requested by the BIA Director/Managing Director.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
• 7 + years of experience with internal control, regulatory and risk issues and demonstrate practical application of this knowledge in supporting department leadership.
• 3 + years or more of excellent project management skills and experience
• Bachelors degree required, Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven track record of high performance in previous roles
• Ability to embrace and adapt to the complexities of large matrix corporate organisations
• Advanced knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office products
• Practical understanding of US regulatory environment affecting Barclays
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining relationships with executive management and regulators
• Financial services industry knowledge and experience
• Knowledge about new and emerging financial products and services
• Experienced in conducting and leading audit engagements
• Experience of leading others during audit engagements
• Experience of reporting to Board of Directors and Board Committees
