Department Profile
The cornerstone of Morgan Stanley’s risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Morgan Stanley’s capital base and franchise. Risk Management protects the firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties.
Background on the Team
Morgan Stanley's Risk Analytics department that resides within Firm Risk Management (FRM) performs quantitative analysis on the Firm's Credit, Market, Operational, and Liquidity risk exposures. The department’s primary objective is to measure and project risks across the Firm to support executive decisions and protect the Firm. Risk Analytics has main presence in New York and London, also attracts talent in Budapest and Mumbai.
Risk Analytics COO Office covers a broad array of areas for the department, including budget/resource management, project management, model advisory, training and talent development. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on projects in all and will have a lot of exposure to the FRM and Risk Analytics’ senior management.
Primary Responsibilities
Risk Analytics COO Office is seeking a strong candidate in New York with experience in model advisory and support or a related function.
Primary Responsibilities include:
-Execute model advisory and support initiatives working with the model developers
-Prepare presentations on models and associated processes working with the model developers
-Perform additional tests to validate analysis in model documents and perform additional analysis as needed
-Develop and maintain model policies and procedures
-Review, edit and/or enhance model documentation
Qualifications
Skills required
-Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Mathematical Finance, Physics, Engineering or a related quantitative field
-Minimum of five years of related experience at a financial institution or consulting firm
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Excellent command of English, both written and oral
-Strong analytical skills with a proven record of attention to detail
-Excellent presentation preparation skills
-Team-player with proven relationship-building skills and comfortable interacting with all levels of management
-Clear thinking, good business sense and judgment
-Strong project management skills
-Knowledge of financial markets, loans and derivatives products is required
-High proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
-Prior experience in CCAR or other regulatory projects is a strong plus
