Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm?s books and records and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley?s various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley?s various businesses and its senior management team.
Team Profile
The team currently comprises the EMEA Investment Management CFO and a team of 6 individuals, supporting the Investment Management business (Equities, Fixed Income, Liquidity, Real Assets, Solutions and Multi Asset and Private Credit and Equity) in EMEA.
There are three key themes within the Business Unit Control team:
• Governance and Performance for the EMEA Investment Management business
• Integrated Controllership delivering all finance to the business
• Business Advisory inclusion of a finance perspective on key business decisions
Primary Responsibilities
Business Unit Management Information on a weekly, monthly and quarterly cycle, including commentary over financials and asset flow information.
• Key contact for the business unit providing support for regular and ad hoc deliverables
• Finance lead for critical business initiatives from a finance perspective
• Critical review on key reports including quarterly Board packs, management packs and business reports produced by the team
• Ownership of regulatory finance deliverables including standalone MSIM ICAAP, capital and liquidity stress testing and modelling
• Act as a guardian for the firm?s books and records, ensuring integrity of financial information
• Liaison with other internal groups including Tax, Company Secretarial, Bank Resource Management and Treasury on matters relating to Investment Management
• Deliver support to the senior BU and Finance stakeholders
• Drive and deliver ad hoc projects and initiatives within the team
Qualifications
Skills required
As a Vice President, you will be responsible for demonstrating an ability to deliver the finance function to the business unit, managing and supporting a team, developing practical solutions to problems whilst balancing multiple issues and priorities appropriately.
• The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strong analytical, organisational and documentation skills
• The candidate should possess post-qualified experience in a similar financial services role
• Asset management experience is required
• Proven abilities to manage a team; develop/mentor staff and proactively organise and manage cross functional teams
• Candidates should possess excellent Microsoft Excel skills and be proficient in modelling, data mining and summarising information for delivery to senior management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across the organisation
• Develop relationships with senior stakeholders at the highest level
• Candidates should be highly numerate with a close attention to detail, and demonstrate a strong commitment to developing your own skills
• Have the flexibility required to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines
