Risk and Control Objective

Overall Purpose of the Role
The U.S. Credit Strategy team seeks a senior high yield credit strategist.
• The individual should set the firms view on the US high yield and leveraged loan market
• Establish forecasts for returns, supply, demand, quality preference, curve shape, etc.
• Relay sector views and have familiarity with the largest credits in the high yield and leveraged loan markets to an extent that they can express the recommendations on the fundamental analyst team in a credible fashion
• Interact extensively with portfolio managers at Barclays top buyside clients to present firm view
• Drive the high yield and leveraged loan sections of the Credit Alpha as well as longer articles on specific topics in credit
• Create and monitor screens that produce trade ideas based on broader market themes
• Work with credit derivative and investment grade strategists to make comparisons across those markets
• Build out coverage of CLO market
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree
• 5+ years of experience in the financial industry
• 3+ years of experience working with models and financial statement analysis
• 3+ years of experience in credit research or strategy
Preferred Qualifications
• Sell-side research work experience
• Relationships with buyside clients
• Interested in research at the Macro and Micro level
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and proven leadership qualities
