Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management (WM) provides a range of wealth management products and services for individuals, businesses and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement, trust and estate planning, stock plan administration and institutional consulting.
The Institutional Wealth Management organization includes Graystone Consulting, Corporate Equity Solutions, Corporate Retirement, Corporate Cash, Government Entities, and the Institutional Workplace Wealth employee program offering.
Responsible for leading and managing Operational Risk and Control efforts across the Institutional Wealth Management organization including:
• Proactive identification of issues, problem solving how to strengthen controls, and execution of day-to-day oversight tasks in the business.
• Oversight and coordination of risk and control attributes for transformational platform investments
• Build out and management of a team of approximately 10-12 individuals
• Accountable for business unit risk and control deliverables including audit and compliance exam preparation and related follow-up, Risk and Control Self- Assessment (RCSA) development and maintenance, information security and entitlements oversight, incident response and reporting, business continuity planning and execution, outsourcing and vendor management, maintenance of written supervisory policies and procedures, and coordination of risk acceptances.
• This individual will lead senior level discussions with and be primary business liaison for risk issues for Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology, Operations, / Field Management / Wealth Management leadership, and as applicable, outside regulators. Responsibilities require broad knowledge of institutional products / services, associated technology and operational processes, critical risk issues and regulatory landscape.
Additional responsibilities include ensuring commitments made by the business and support partners to mitigate risk are executed and measured as agreed upon and contributing to the technology budgeting and prioritization processes to deliver process and tech related solutions to risk challenges. This individual must have strong executive presence and the ability to marshal the cross organizational resources to effectively respond to risk challenges and outage events that impact the business.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• 7+ years of financial services experience required with strong knowledge of Wealth Management
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability collaborate with and influence key stakeholders
• Successful track record of people management and team development
• Excellent problem solving capabilities, project management skills and business judgment
• Strong work ethic with ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
• Specific experience in Risk, Compliance and / or Audit a plus, and exposure to Product Management, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance and Risk is required
• College degree required. Graduate degree considered a plus
• Series 7 and Series 24 registrations
