The role of the Distributed Operating Systems Director is to lead and determine strategy with a team of approximately 50 employees and an annual budget of $7 MM. The team is responsible for the design, planning, configuration standards, implementation, and maintenance of approximately 18,000 Distributed Server Operating Systems (i.e. Windows, Linux). In addition, the Director provides leadership for an annual technology refresh and enhancement investments ranging from $5-10MM.

This position is a direct report to the Managing Director accountable for all US Bank’s core distributed technologies. Our mission is to provide a reliable, highly available, performant, and secure infrastructure (network, storage, compute and services) that is fungible, easily consumable and dynamically scales to meet just-in-time business application requirements at the lowest cost per transaction.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Minimum of 15 years of distributed server technology experience
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience with a strong executive presence
• Proven ability to hire, develop and manage high-performing technical teams
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Working experience with a DevOps model and related enabling technologies to deliver IaaS and PaaS
• Strong technical knowledge of server operating system’s Windows, Linux and UNIX
• Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, middleware, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices
• Proven track record to continually evolve/enhance system stability and availability
• Experience in fault monitoring, capacity planning, systems performance analysis and optimization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill with ability to influence and successfully interact with executive leadership
• Demonstrated track record in delivering complex projects
• Manage a geographically distributed Infrastructure Technology team
