Department Profile
The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm’s equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha.
The Trading operation consists of product specialist trading teams responsible for providing liquidity to clients, market making on trading venues, managing inventory, executing client orders and managing Firm risk positions across all the key equity and equity derivative product sets. The product specialisms range from cash equities to complex exotic derivatives and structured corporate derivatives.
Responsibilities:
EMEA IED Trading Non-Market Risk are now looking for a self-starting, ethically minded, control focused individual with the ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly.
The team’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Advising senior members of Equity Trading in relation to managing risk
• Providing risk guidance and approval for all Equity Trading related New Product Approvals
• Providing risk oversight for all key risk indicators for Equity Trading
• Design and implementation of control solutions, which includes enabling business development in a risk-controlled manner
• Providing risk oversight for all regulatory and market infrastructure changes that impact Equity Trading
• Review and approval of new Equity Trading initiatives
• Equity Trading related regulatory enquiries, compliance test checks and internal audits
• Oversight of business booked remotely onto UK Group entities
• Trader mandates
• Co-ordination of Best Execution governance and controls
• Oversight of Volcker controls, metrics and ownership of EMEA Desk Profiles
• Oversight of trading risk pertaining to EMEA offices
• Ownership of BCP management for IED Sales & Trading
• Co-ordinating risk deep dives to identify risk issues and design/implement enhancements as required
Qualifications
You will ideally have a solid background in and understanding of equity trading and the ability to stay calm, clear and measured under pressure.
Success in this specialized area of expertise requires the following competencies:
• A control focused approach that includes making appropriate risk decisions in a time pressured environment
• Solution driven approach to identified issues
• Ability to co-ordinate across the broader firm to deliver a stronger control framework
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management within IED and across other MS Divisions
